"You never were until you started hanging out with people who are also gay/trans/whatever" Yeah, that's why I started to hang out with them, because they seemed liked the only people I would ever be able to come out to in this town. "You never were until you started reading that book/watching that show" Guess WHY I picked up that book/show....

I knew my boy was gay before he came out. I also watched him struggle with it on the inside and fight against himself. It didn't take long at all and once I figured it out... So I encouraged him that he is safe to be himself w/me FOR-EVER and I will always have his back. It was like I could literally see the weight lift off of him at that very moment... and he has shined ever since. ❤️

I grew up in a really conservative family, and I had/have a gay nephew. Everyone knew, probably before he did. What was really surprising, in the best way possible, was that for the most part (with a couple unfortunate exceptions), the whole family has been really accepting of him (and why not - he's awesome - and his husband is really cool too). I wish more people would just accept their kids and love them for who they are. Instead, so many people deny the truth right in front of them and cling to their preconceived notions like a sinking ship.

I saw a YouTube video last night about a young woman (blind and autistic) that sang beautifully. She was adopted later in life by 2 men (gay couple) and some of the comments were condemning the couple (religious fanatics) about there not being a mom in her life. Many people came to their defense, but it shouldn't have to be that way. This young woman has 2 parents that love her, care for her, and support her. The fact that they both have the same "plumbing" should have nothing to do with it.

I Google 'gay penguin book' and I think I found it? There's a book called And Tango Makes Three which is about a pair of male penguins and their adopted baby. Also, it's based on a real story!

I think they're referencing a kids author who is blind and gay called paul. Ill have to look into his last name and his books

His name is Paul Castle and he and his husband are honestly goals. I know one of his books is called the Secret Ingredient but I'm not sure that's the one with penguins.

I read fantasy romance, my faves are The Black Dagger Brotherhood series, there are 4 gay romances included, as a hetero, i am invested in every one of the characters, love them.

If you like Gothic fantasy you might like Gideon the Ninth. She's gay, although does not end in a happy relationship sorry. But she does slay (like as in literally kills lots of things). But the penguin book is called "And Tango Makes Three". It's based on a true story about a pair of bonded gay penguins in the Central Park Zoo. But it's a children's book, as in for toddlers. I bought it for my kids when they were little, and have since given it away.

Nobody is insisting that 12 year old have access to books like that. Stop making up problems that don't exist. It's just books in which people fall in love, or there's a person with 2 moms or 2 dads. Or do you think that Cinderella is too sexual for kids, because it's about a heterosexual couple? Or that any book in which a kid has a mom and a dad is too sexual for kids, because the parents being straight means they're having sex?
