This Police Department’s Instagram Account Is Full Of Sarcastic Memes To Help Them Fight Crime (34 Pics)
Police in India by and large don't have the best reputation, they are viewed as corrupt and at best - useless. But one police department is making an effort to rehab their image with the number one weapon of the internet - memes. The Bengaluru City Police teamed up young social media entrepreneurs Chethan Hiremath and Deeraj Gowda in an effort to reach out to millennials in their language of choice, hilarious graphics.
“We try to inculcate that meme with a message; that’s how the Game of Thrones and Pablo Escobar memes came about. We blended humour with social messages, without diluting the image that the Bengaluru Police has. Whatever content they have, we find a creative way to put it across," Deeraj told The Times of India.
The savvy social media approach appears to be working, Police commissioner Praveen Sood informed the outlet that, "The response to new tweets has been good. We are adding at least 1,000 followers on a daily basis." Scroll down below to check out some of the best content from the Bengaluru City Police Instagram page and don't forget to upvote your favs!

A 2013 social media survey from the International Association of Chiefs of Police found that 96 percent of police departments use social media in some capacity, more than 80 percent say it has helped them solve crimes, and 73 percent of agencies said it helped improve police-community relationships in their jurisdiction.
Crimes in India saw a ‘marginal increase’ in the first 45 days of 2018 as compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. Citing the official data, the TOI report points out that the cases of murder, abduction, rape, dowry death, and fatal accidents have seen a spike as compared to the last year.
A 2017 report by Global Peace Index had claimed India to be the fourth most dangerous country for women travelers. Gender Vulnerability Index 2017 compiled by Ministry of Women and Child Development found Bihar, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Jharkhand to be the bottom four in terms of safety.
Studies show that the worsening air quality in Bengaluru could escalate crime rates.“Studies have shown that suspended particulate matter (SPM) of 2.5u, which is 3% the size of a hair, and composed primarily of sulphates, nitrates, ammonia, sodium chloride and black carbon, affects the endocrine system, impairing judgment, increasing the possibility of violence,” said Professor Dr H Paramesh, a pulmonologist and environmental scientist at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc).
The Thomson Reuters Foundation surveyed about 550 experts on women’s issues and ranked India as number one. "With levels of violence against women still running high, more than five years after the rape and murder of a student on a bus in Delhi sparked national outrage and government pledges to tackle the issue."
this is creepy as hell... but i'd totally watch whatever movie this is lol
It's not the motorbike that kills you. It's the sudden stop when a car cuts you off.
So if I go there and try to buy drugs but get ripped off I call the cops? Got it. Good to know! Wow they're nice people!
tune in next time for policeman meets a helmet sounds like a reality show my mum would watch
Eh, they're funny but they remind me of teachers making references to memes to keep the attention of their students. It's entertaining, but no one is really taking it seriously.
Actually they do take it seriously. Teens making fun of antiVaxers is leading to their school chums going off to get their shots as soon as they are legally able to without parental consent.
