Tech fans can get pretty passionate about their favorite brands; much like a favorite sports team, people tend to choose a side and stick to it. If we were talking in sporting terms, Apple would be one of the elite. Apple is like the Real Madrid or Dallas Cowboys of tech, their fans worship them, but everyone else kind of hates them, maybe a little jealous of their success and showy, expensive stars.
There's always a lot of fanfare about the latest Apple releases; they were the ones that first made a real 'event' out of their new products. Predictably, this brings out the haters too, eager and ready to mock the latest piece of overpriced and overhyped tech. The latest Apple memes center around the new Mac Pro, which people are poking fun at for its resemblance to a cheese grater.
The Mac Pro starts at a hefty $5999 and is best enjoyed with a new Pro Display XDR, that starts at $4999 and comes without a monitor stand. Which you will need. How much can a stand be, I hear you ask? That'll be $999, please. So $12K all up, and it will all be available to order in the fall. For serious users only, we assume! What do you think? Scroll down to see some of the best memes and best captions below, and let us know what you think in the comments!

Bored Panda spoke to Siddhant, the man behind the popular fan site Apple Lovers, to get some insight about the enthusiasm that the company arouses among many of its faithful customers. His love for Apple came from his admiration for its founder. " I am a big fan of Steve Jobs," he told us. "His great sense of design and attention to detail are visible in all Apple products. He was a perfectionist and this perfection is reflected in all the products."
"Steve said that Apple not only focuses on designs from the exterior but from the interior too. If you open an Apple product everything is perfectly laid next to each other. The first product that I used was an iPod Nano(in 2005). I was blown away by the fact that you could carry 1000 songs in your pocket. I instantaneously fell in love with Apple."
"The really cool thing about Apple is how seamlessly they make hardware and software work with each other which is why their products have great performance. No other company has been able to do this. The ecosystem that apple has is incredible. All the products work flawlessly with each other, for example you can take a call on your Mac if your iPhone is not nearby."
Siddhant says that he enjoys the showmanship that the company brings, and looks forward to each new release announcement. "I regularly watch all the Apple events," he said. "The next product that I am looking forward is the Apple Watch, not the iPhone. I think iPhone has reached its pinnacle. There's hardly anything that is left to innovate."
"On the other hand the Apple Watch has a lot of potential. It can be a game changer for the healthcare industry. With Series 4 you can take an ECG from your wrist. This was the first off the shelf device in the market which was FDA approved. I think there are tons of things which can be done to make Apple Watch even better. One of the things I am looking forward to is the inclusion of Blood Sugar tracking which would be incredible for all the patients that have diabetes. I think it is a couple of years away but this would be awesome."
While he understands the fuss over the ever higher price of many Apple products, Siddhant believes that the quality is unparalleled and customers do get value for money. "When you want to make a great product which is high quality and adheres to all the industry standards, you would choose to include all high quality components; be it the latest intel processor, high speed RAM, SSD and high end GPUs. These things are bound to make your price high," he said.
"In addition to this you get simplicity - Apple products don’t come with a lot of instruction manuals. They just work right out of the box. Lastly, you get excellent customer support; I personally have had great experiences. I think the price is right when you factor all these in. For Pro customers this is a great product which can give new ways to express their creativity. I personally would buy it if I had the cash!"
Siddhant's view offers a different perspective on the Mac Pro grater/pricing controversy, but what do Apple themselves have to say? In a statement released alongside the announcement of the new computer they laid some of the new features that customers can expect for their $12K.
"Designed for maximum performance, expansion and configurability, the all-new Mac Pro features workstation-class Xeon processors up to 28 cores, a high-performance memory system with a massive 1.5TB capacity, eight PCIe expansion slots and a graphics architecture featuring the world’s most powerful graphics card," Apple writes. "It also introduces Apple Afterburner, a game-changing accelerator card that enables playback of three streams of 8K ProRes RAW video simultaneously."
"Pro Display XDR features a massive 32-inch Retina 6K display with gorgeous P3 wide and 10-bit color, an extreme 1,600 nits of peak brightness, an incredible 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio and a superwide viewing angle, all at a breakthrough price point. Together, the new Mac Pro and Pro Display XDR are the most powerful tools Apple has ever put in the hands of pro customers and will change pro workflows forever."
“We designed Mac Pro for users who require a modular system with extreme performance, expansion and configurability. With its powerful Xeon processors, massive memory capacity, groundbreaking GPU architecture, PCIe expansion, Afterburner accelerator card and jaw-dropping design, the new Mac Pro is a monster that will enable pros to do their life’s best work,” said Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing.
“Pro Display XDR is the world’s best pro display and the perfect companion to the all-new Mac Pro. With Retina 6K resolution, gorgeous color, extreme brightness and contrast ratio, and a highly functional design, Pro Display XDR delivers the most comprehensive set of features ever offered on any display at this price point.”
This is a task for Mac and C.H.E.E.S.E., the cancelled show with Joey Tribbiani.
"With edge-to-edge glass and narrow, 9-millimeter borders in a stunning, aluminum enclosure, Pro Display XDR features a highly functional and flexible design. The Pro Stand has an intricately engineered arm that perfectly counterbalances the display so it feels virtually weightless, allowing users to easily place it into position."
"The Pro Stand provides both tilt and height adjustment, and also allows Pro Display XDR to rotate into portrait mode, perfect for tasks like retouching photos, designing a web page or writing code. Easily removable, the Pro Stand quickly attaches and detaches so it is easy to take on location. For pros with unique mounting requirements, a VESA mount adapter is interchangeable with the Pro Stand. With a single Thunderbolt 3 cable, Pro Display XDR connects seamlessly to the Mac product line, including the new Mac Pro, which supports up to six displays for a breathtaking 120 million pixels."
So yeah, it is admittedly a pretty special stand. But what is the world coming to when people are spending $999 on a stand for a screen? Scroll down below to see the rest of the memes for yourself and tell us what you think. Are you an Apple fan? Is this going too far now and pricing ordinary people out of the market completely? Or is this ideal kit for creatives who need serious processing power to do their jobs? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
Do what I did. I bought the most bad-a*s, fully optioned and upgraded MacPro from 2007 (which is still pretty good, frankly) and it was only $300.
I'm an Apple girl. But I am dumbfounded by HOW they didn't see this coming!!
I know someone who would buy this. Several in fact. Obviosuly it must be better. There's an Apple on it.
WTF, Apple? It's ugly. The monitor's thickness is ugly. The stand is ugly. It went backwards by two decades, instead of futuristic.
They will start a clothing business and women can buy their $1000 purses.
I seriously want to see any tech channel on youtube actually using it as a cheese grater. :)
Yep, all those fat cats (my apologies to the world's feline population) laughing on their way to the bank.
Nope, they actually gasped in disbelief. Watch the video.

Ooh I will imagine the poor dude having to announce the price of that stand next time I am nervous before a talk because I didn't prepare properly..
People buy names, brands. This is exactly the same thing as people buying a $1000 purse.
If they can sell a stand for 1000, i can sell my anime throw pillow drawing to some trashy 11 year old boys who play fortnite in their basement all night!
A*s-backwards. THAT APPLE CAN SELL A MONITOR FOR FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS WITH NO STAND....
Just to put stuff in perspective you can find different sub $1 000 builds like this one on pcpartpicker. https://pcpartpicker.com/guide/ https://pcpartpicker.com/guide/d77Ycf/great-intel-gamingstreaming-build
Cash please! Then I can buy more useless junk I don't need which are STILL BETTER than the stand.
Am I the only one that doesn't like this meme because the order is wrong?
I like those dell monitors with the built-in USB hubs. We need more of those and less $1000 nonsense.
This is ridiculous! I'm a graphic designer and illustrator and in my field Mac computers used to be a standard. I switched to Windows about 8 years ago and never looked back. More and more designers are doing the same. I have an excellent custom built PC for a fraction of the price of a Mac. There's no good reason to keep buying this overpriced fashion accessory.
Very early on, Mac got a reputation for being great at graphics because it was far beyond Windows. It really didn't take long for Windows to catch up but the reputations lingered on. At this point there is really no good reason to spend so much money on an Apple computer of any type when you can get a Windows PC that's just as powerful for a fraction of the price.

Not people... dumbasses acting like they are the 1% richest while believing they actually made it and aren't just for laughs.
Load More Replies...Just wait for the little thing to connect the monitor to the stand. Starts at 9.999.999.
Well at least it's only $999! If it was $1000 people wouldn't buy it.
Just for everyone’s edification: This is not like people queuing up for overpriced iPhones. This new Mac and display are so overpriced that professionals who’ve been buying Mac Pros for years cannot afford this new model. Apple priced us right out, aiming instead to sell a computer only to the likes of Pixar and Disney studios (or the infuriatingly lucky and wealthy). Mac Pros didn’t used to be THIS out of reach of the average computer artist/musician.
This is the reason why I've always hated apple, they over price their items and sell the necessary items you need for their product separately just so they can take more money from you.
So, Apple gives customers actual freedom to choose between no stand, a VESA adapter or the Apple stand, and you still manage to whine? What do you need more? A thai massage?
Load More Replies...They know that they can do anything because once the costumers get used to a particular interface and operating system, it's not easy to swap, to save and convert all those files, to create new accounts for new digital services etc. So they become dependent, unless they were flexibly using multiple platforms all the time. And Apple's business model helped making this possible in the first place.
I have a mac in the office and a Windows PC at home and switch between them daily. They can do it because consumers are stupid and keep buying their shite. that is all
Load More Replies...They are so generous that they cut 1 cent for every product just to have fewer digits on the price.
Apple's new absurdly-priced monitor stand reminds me of this great cartoon by The Oatmeal: "What it's like to own an Apple product": https://theoatmeal.com/comics/apple
Do you know the production costs of these stands? If no, stay quiet.

They are taking the p**s. I will not be buying another Mac. Don't care if I have to buy new software. This company has been getting worse and worse.
People are materialistic, they work all day until they die just to buy things. People just buy.. Things. People need upgrades & the best of the best. It's over whelming & far from what happiness is.
Im so confused. Did apple actually make a cheese grader and trash can? What is this a reference to?
I get that the monitor/stand thing is totally beyond... but that aside, this is CLEARLY not for a casual user... I’d even imagine more purchases by businesses than individuals. A race car driver doesn’t drive a Corolla, even though it’s a perfectly good car for most, Yknow?
Professionals want this. I'll pass. I don't have 6000 lying around either. ^^
Bought an iPhone se 64gb 2gb ram refurbished online for $120 with a promo code ship. Included. I just tried to buy somethin cheap n did. Dope device. The only brand new apple product I recommend is from a tree tho. A tree where tha trunk grew separate. 😂
To be fair, the Mac Pro is not intended for the standard consumer. Buuuuuut still.... f**k that monitor stand.
Holds out cheese grater to iMac computer* LET THEM MAKE CHILDREN! Apple: donezo.
I had no idea this sorta craziness was going on. I don't have a computer at home so I dont really keep up on it.
I can´t imagine how much this rip off will cost in Argentina... And there are eeediots that still buy Macs here, even if costs 250% more than in USA.
Last year they finally updated the Mac Mini. Slightly pricy, but plenty of power for everything but a high end renderfarm. It's the only piece of Apple hardware on my desk (and I have plenty of hardware on my desk).
