“What If We Cared About Those Living In Poverty As Much As We Care About Celebrities?”
Simple: Celebrity worship keeps people hypnotized into believing that they too can and will be rich and/or famous someday INSTEAD of realizing that we all can have nice comfortable lives IF we taxed all the billionaires and millionaires out of existence! Call it whatever you want, but I don't care. I'm done seeing my fellow humans SUFFER while the Musks and Bezos of the world get richer and richer!

While we all know the importance of great advertising, it seems to be one of those things that is easier said than done. Many billboards are simply passed by without being noticed at all, and plenty of ads on YouTube are skipped as soon as possible. But when an ad does stand out, you might want to snap a photo and share it online with fellow ad-enthusiasts. This subreddit, dedicated to “high quality images of advertisements,” has amassed an impressive 465k members over the last 12 years through sharing simply static images of brilliant ads.
We’ve also taken a trip to this subreddit, which is a bit smaller but shares a similar goal. “Only the most creative and mind-blowing marketing ideas and concepts belong here,” the group’s About Community states. And as it turns out, anything can be marketed in a fabulous way, from McDonald’s burgers to job opportunities to luxury cars. So whether you need an IKEA pillow or a reminder not to smoke cigarettes, you’re sure to find something on this list that will catch your eye.

While advertising may seem simple to those of us who have only ever come across ads, rather than created them ourselves, it can actually be quite complex. According to Indeed, there are three main types of advertising: above the line, below the line and through the line. Above the line ads are not specifically targeted towards any group of people, but rather large, wide audiences. These include TV, radio and magazine ads which are sure to reach a wide variety of people.
Below the line ads have a target audience. These can include mailing lists, in-store ads and commercials created for specific programs where they’ll know their audience. And finally, through the line advertisements use a combination of both above and below the line techniques, often for brand-building campaigns. These are typically widely distributed and use cookies or digital data to give customers a personalized experience.

Indeed notes that it’s important for companies to focus on creating great advertising because it increases sales, informs customers, helps introduce new products, informs advertisers about their own competition, retains customers, increases employee morale, differentiates brands, increases customer trust, can help reach target customers, and explains company values. As crucial as it is to provide excellent service and products as well, advertising cannot be overlooked. And to keep your company from being overlooked, ads must be geared to attracting customers’ attention. It can be helpful to use “bright colors, jingles, sketches or clever taglines,” Indeed recommends, but anything out of the ordinary might be a great choice.
I Guess The Most Simple Yet Powerful Promotional Message
Donation Ad And Drop Off For USB Sticks To Send To North Korea
Nice idea, but I don't want to think of the consequences for anyone caught with one.
"Help us endanger the lives of the oppressed!" doesn't have the same ring to it though
Load More Replies...That's hilarious, thanks for pointing it out. For anyone struggling to find its the killer Kim in the top right.
Load More Replies...Computer ownership in North Korea is so expensive relative to earnings and strictly controlled, with every one needing to be licenced and registered with the government, that hardly anyone is going to be able to read these anyway.
They don’t all need to have one. A lot of North Koreans gather together, in secret, to watch things. There is a thriving black market, and many already have what is necessary to use these drives. North Koreans have been watching things from the outside world for many, many years. This isn’t new.
Load More Replies...I'd donate AFTER I erased my USB drive. I'd never trust anyone to do this vital step for me.
I really get scared when I think of this, like such stuff can happen even now and not only in 1984
Always loved this campaign, donated a few months ago. Go here to help out: https://flashdrivesforfreedom.org/
Am I not considered intelligent enough to erase my own damn USB drive? My parents weren't siblings, I promise.
yes...i am trusting the people behind some random billboard with my data...
I think that this is a very heartfelt idea, however, I just worry about the lives of those who are caught by Kim Jong-Un's "propaganda police" for having an USB drive with media that is censored and banned in North Korea.
I think by now they know what’s on the USBs, they can make their own decisions if they want to watch it or destroy it.
Load More Replies...He would know of this, his sleuths are as ruthless..he would love the exposure, as despots and narcissists do and consider themselves as invincible. Let the man stand alone without his henchcrew and see what he does. 100% crumple screaming "not me "
they have been doing this for awhile now as I heard it.. they are careful and clever about it..
Why do you care about NK? Some rare earth or mineral you need from them? They will learn from China in time
"we'll erase them" Erase them before you donate. Why don't people have more sense of privacy and security?
Even the school PC's north korea showed in their propaganda pictures on how technologicially advanced their country is still had CRT-Monitors. So propably not many people outside of the privileged might even have PCs with USB connections
Because North Korea lets boxes of thumb drives into the country and hands them out to its citizens? Those people are so conditioned and brain washed that their first and only allegiance is to dear leader. And they know even the accusation of disloyalty will not only get them killed, but their entire family will be thrown in labor camps for life. No one is going to risk that so a citizen can read a book or watch a movie. That also puts the citizen and their whole family at risk of the same punishment. It's a nice thought, but it's just not feasible.
Wrong. This has been a thing for years. The black market is very much alive, in North Korea, and citizens have been secretly watching things for decades. Also, these are smuggled into the country. Why would you think they would just openly try to carry them across the border and start publicly handing them out? That’s not how smuggling works.
Load More Replies...Do we know if they have computers in NK that can take a usb? Do we know if NK regular citizens have computers? Do we know if NK regular citizens have electricity to run tech? I mean, I applaud any attempt to help NK regular peoples, but is this workable?
Yes, it's been working since around 2018: https://flashdrivesforfreedom.org/
Load More Replies...Why not just let these cultures like NK and Iran open up and be greeted by the world. Our culture would overwhelm them. The people of those countries are mostly innocent. We should help them.
I'm not sure what you mean by "let". North Korea is a very tightly controlled dictatorship that, under the Kim Dynasty, has been committing genocide against its own people for more than 80 years. With the exception of Pyongyang, the nation's capital, the land is largely rural, the population is made to forage for food and sometimes is forced to eat dirt and insects, electricity is turned on and off at random if it's even present at all, and there is a militarized police force along the border that won't hesitate to shoot possible defectors. The world would love to greet NK with open arms but it's not that simple. If you're interested, there is an excellent memoir called "In Order to Live" by a woman named Yeonmi Park, who managed to escape and is now a very vocal advocate for the liberation of her home country and a UN ambassador. It is beyond horrific to read what goes on inside NK's borders.
Load More Replies...Hrmmm... "Send us your un-erased USB drives so we can give them to North Korea" sounds sketchy to me....
Obviously you can erase them yourself before donating. Nowhere does it ask for usb sticks to have stuff on them. It just makes a point of saying anyone who forgets to erase the contents, the contents will be erased first. No one in North Korea cares about your vacation photos or the essay you wrote last month on the Great Gatsby, Bruno.
Load More Replies...Why do so many people seem to be forgetting that the black market is a thing and that it’s everywhere? Plenty of people in North Korea do have what is needed to watch things from the outside. They just do it in secret, with other like-minded people they know well. This has been going on for a long time. Do you really think they’d go to all the trouble of organizing this and smuggling them into the country without knowing if they were usable, first?
Load More Replies...they do have electricity and computers, just not the internet. hence the USB drives.

A great ad not only captivates audiences but also advocates for a product. It can be helpful to detail why exactly this brand is superior to competitors and what the advantages are of supporting this company. Advertisers should also focus on their target audience, and establish a consistent image. “Identify your target audience by reviewing sales history or demographic information about your customers or by distributing customer surveys,” Indeed explains. “Then design advertising that appeals to them using research and focus groups.” Consistent colors, fonts, logos, etc. can also help your brand become instantly recognizable by your customers.

While it’s important for companies to pump energy and resources into great, creative ads, advertising is so powerful that it can have positive or negative effects. So companies must be wary of running any ads that will hurt their businesses. According to Amped, bad advertising can alienate your customer base, ruin your brand image and sometimes even lead to lawsuits. In fact, one third of Americans say they refuse to purchase from brands who have previously released bad advertisements, even if the ads were later changed or removed.

One example of bad advertising that companies must steer clear of is false advertising. “This is when a business uses baseless, misleading, or dishonest content to market or promote products/services,” Amped explains. “No marketing team is perfect and mistakes can occur, but when paired with deliberate ignorance and possible intent to appear clever in the eyes of the public, the result is false advertising. Some advertisements miss the point by misleading their audience and in turn leaving a sour taste in the mouths of consumers. Over time, negative ads can lead to biases about brands by everyday people.”

Didn't BP quite literally just make an article identical to this one?
Years ago they used to show the Clio award winners to the public in San Francisco. At first it was limited to people who worked in advertising. But there was such a demand for those people's friends that they figured out there was a big market for it and opened it to the public, running them for (eventually) two whole weeks. They included print, video, and radio ads and the audience responded vocally, especially to evil companies. But then some Hollywood types bought the broadcast rights and started showing them on TV. But of course they only showed the 'nice' video ones, none of the others that gave the whole thing substance. It lasted 2-3 seasons before they pulled the plug and it was never presented again.
