There are units, and then there are absolute units. If the latter doesn’t ring a bell, it may be because the odd-sounding term comes from internet culture, where people use it to refer to a large, round animal or object.
It’s a descriptive meme in the family of “smol bean” or “beautiful cinnamon roll,” and you can totally feel somewhat of an affectionate feel about it.
But in order to get to the essence of what being an absolute unit entails, one has to see a real example of it. So Bored Panda has compiled a list full of the absolutest of the units for you to feast on right below, and make sure you check out part 1 right here.

An Absolute Unit Of A Gray Percheron. This Is The Same Horse 5 Years Apart. They Transition From A Black Coat To A Gray Coat As They Grow Older
The first “absolute unit” meme was born on December 13, 2017, when a Twitter user named @mrreptoid wrote, “In awe at the size of this lad. Absolute unit,” with regards to a photo of British hotelier David Morgan-Hewitt standing next to the Queen of England. Mr. Morgan-Hewitt is a very large lad, indeed.
But it really took off in 2018, with the Museum of English Rural Life tweeting a photograph of ram with a caption “Look at this absolute unit.” Adam Koszary, the museum’s manager who wrote the tweet, amassed 98k likes and more than 27k retweets in the next couple of days.

Absolute Unit
An “absolute unit'' is a term that implies a general idea that something or someone is comically oversize. And it can be applied to virtually anything, from objects to animals, to even humans and fashion. Speaking of fashion, much of the oversized trend of the past five years has to do with the image that can be called “absolute unit.” From dad’s sneakers to gigantic jackets, they look both funny, out of proportion, yet somewhat progressive and unmistakably fashionable.

This Cucumber Mistaken For A Watermelon
Dad thinks it's a watermelon, kid thinks it's a cucumber when it's actually a courgette. Not the sharpest tools in the box
He's not eaten cucumber before, then. That's a very impressive courgette/zucchini.
Has no one ever seen a marrow I feel like you've all missed some important part of your life where your grandparents grew weird things in the glasshouse and tried to make you eat them
I have never heard of a "marrow" here in the midwest. Is it a kind of squash, like a zucchini?
It actually is exactly that, When they're let grow full-size they become a marrow 😊
Load More Replies...I'm pretty sure it's a watermelon nonetheless. A white watermelon (google it).
Not for a marrow, which is what it actually is.
Load More Replies...It’s an unripe watermelon. Google image search for unripe watermelon. The outside is patterned like a watermelon.
Ugh, marrow in a salad? That wouldn't be pleasant.
Load More Replies...Because it's a marrow. Not a cucumber or a watermelon! Apparently not a common vegetable in some countries. I grew up eating these in the UK. My parents were poor but had a massive garden and we grew most of our own veg.
Load More Replies...I cant imagine the expectation and then the sour dissapointment. Pressing F
I do too - but this is a marrow. It's what you get when you allow a courgette to grow up. My dad used to grow stacks of them. People grow giant versions and enter them into competitions. The one in this photo is just an ordinary sized one.
Load More Replies...You'll be disappointed then. It isn't a cucumber. It's a simple marrow.
Load More Replies...It's a marrow. Do they not have marrows in some countries?
Load More Replies...Actually it is a marrow. Not even a very large one. Just a normal, ordinary old marrow.

I have deduced that "unit" now means large or oversized. But is it just a coincidence everyone is using the same adjective "absolute"...or is the full term "absolute unit"? Language is changing so fast...I am Gen X, and "unit" use to mean something very different, and it was not always large.
The full term is "absolute unit", though "unit" could be used standalone if it's in a drive by comment, it's mostly used as the full term. It's specific meaning is "something exceptionally large for what it is".

Not all black horses turn gray, it's more likely if the horse has a gray parent. And while we're on the subject, a foal's color is often different from it's adult coat color.

Loved it, but Ben Smith really ruined it. We need a blocking system or something
I looked at what Ben Smith had to say, well, I did agree with him re perspective. I have been a keen amateur photographer, so can see when the camera is too close to the subject, esp. the macaron, and the duck. You need something to compare the sizes, like the Percheron stallion.
