It’s So Cold In North America That Niagara Falls Is Frozen, And It Looks Like Something From Narnia
Niagara falls are a spectacular place to visit at any time of year, however in winter, especially seriously cold winters like North America is currently experiencing, they are truly a breathtaking sight.
While the bitter temperatures have caused chaos in some areas and affected the New Year’s plans of millions, one upside to the big chill is the raw beauty of nature. Many areas of the falls have frozen, forming huge, elaborately shaped ice formations dangling precariously on the rocks, giving the impression of a Narnia-like winter fantasy land.
You can scroll down below to check out some of the gorgeous pictures for yourself, they make you feel cold just looking at them!

It a tourist walkway. This is where they wear raincoats and walk up stairs to see the falls closer in the summer. I'm 30 minutes from there.
And when I and my husband retired we were asked why we haven't pulled up stakes here is CA and move back East to be with our daughters and their husbands and grand kids. This my Friends is why.
Looks as if a bunch of weird little critters are hanging on for dear life.
You though getting your tongue stuck was bad... Now imagine your eyes!!!
The photos are stunning but "there's ice around Niagara Falls" is very very different to "Niagara Falls are frozen"
These falls are located on the Canadian-US border. The headline only mentions the US for some reason, even though it appears the bulk of the photos are taken from the Canadian side.
Ugh God Elsa what did you do now? No, I did not even blink at this, having gone to college near Niagara. It's always frigging cold up there. Commencement on May 30th had to be canceled one year due to a sudden snowstorm, not kidding.
So cool looking! And I had to put on another layer of clothing from just looking at these photos. :D
Absolutely breathtaking!! It really does look like a winter wonderland!!
Yes, the headline says "North America", so Canada and the US. For those bent out of shape about the waterfalls not being frozen, that has only happened once in recorded history and you obviously have no concept of what Niagara Falls is. However, the city both in the US and Canada is named...Niagara Falls (NY and Ontario) and both of them are pretty frozen from the mist of the falls. Hope this clears things up.
Some of these pics are years old. I can see the old Ferris wheel from maple leaf village in the background of one of them.
Here is another picture, taken by me this past Sunday Dec 31 NiagaraFal...6a8f1b.jpg
This is truly beautiful, living in Australia I've never seen anything like this...The closest I've gotten in my lifetime was some heavy hail...So this is so magical.
This is a lie. Niagara Falls is not frozen, and as you can see from the pictures, it is still flowing.
I've only ever visited the Falls in the Summer months, and they're pretty impressive even then ... But I would love to visit in the winter and take photos like these ones. They look STUNNING!
The horseshoe falls Canada side does not freeze as I think it is to do with its size but the American falls are smaller so they do freeze
The very first time I saw the Falls was in 1959 and It was completely frozen,no water going over at all, enormous bolders of ice, very beautiful,.

I think that the photographer that took these photos is quite talented. These are just beautiful pics.I really don't care if he or she was on the American side or the Canadian side, I don't care if they stood on their heads to take them or Hanging on a tree bordering on both sides. Can't we just look at them and get some pleasure from a job well done instead of picking it apart, really people.....CHILL OUT! lol

Where are the frozen falls....? The falls are not frozen, just the area around them.
I find it terrifying and stupid for people to go close to them when they are so cold and frozen.
It's seven degrees where I'm at. As beautiful as the pictures are I'm perfectly content just to look at them. No way do I want to be there in person, freezing my a*s off. Got any pics of someplace warm?
Not frozen, just the railing, bushes, a few trees and rocks have some ice on them. This pic from today, and yes, most of the pics in this article are from the Canadian side. aIMG_3443-...a08577.jpg
