MezzaLuna means half moon in italian. It is also ‘moon shaped’ knife very popular in italy and in restaurants.

I’ve bought such double herb knfie on auction for a very, very little amount of money. It is because the condition of the knife was terrible: rust everywhere, scratches on wood, dull and somebody make more, deep scratches in metal tryin to remove the rust.

First step is to dismount the device – using lubricant to move the screws

Second the bath in vinegar – to remove the rust

Now hand-sanding with sandpapers from 60 – 2500 grit

Feel the difference. Below is after sanding with sandpaper 400 grit

next is time to sharpen with japanese wet stones

Removing the leftovers from holes and polishing

Sanding, painting and oilng the handles

The final result – it was definetely worth of it!
