My name is Iwona Pinkowicz, I’m a London based photographer who has been documenting people and events in King’s Cross for three years as the area continues its remarkable transformation. The most recent event I attended at N1C was a riotous feast for the eyes put on by counter-culture movement Mutoid Waste Company.
A dystopian scene descended on King’s Cross on Saturday 4 June. PUNKX rolled into the neighbourhood with fire-breathing cars and apocalyptic art installations to create a visual spectacle celebrating 40 years of Punk. Granary Square was transformed into the backlot of the latest Mad Max movie with the soundtrack to the evening similar to that in this year’s surprise Oscar success. Black leather-clad flame-throwing princesses of darkness towered above their young worshipers as anarchy reigned in the fountains. The day turned out to be a roaring success of all things alternative.
