In a world brimming with mysteries and marvels, one debate seems to spin on endlessly, much like the planet we inhabit. Is the Earth flat or round?
What we know for sure is that there’s a corner of the internet where the age-old question isn't just about whether the Earth is flat or round — it’s about who can craft the wittiest punchline. Here we are with a plethora of flat earth memes, those tidbits of digital humor that have us questioning how some people still believe the Earth isn't a sphere. Or better, an oblate spheroid.
Surprisingly, a slice of young adults have tickled statisticians with their responses to this cosmic query. A peek into the findings of a YouGovUS study reveals that a small yet baffling 4% of 18 to 24-year-olds believe we inhabit a frisbee-shaped planet. Ancient thinkers would be perplexed, to say the least, considering this debate should’ve been settled eons ago.
Yet here we are, witnessing a crew of believers in the flat Earth theory, armed with arguments that defy the gravitational pull of mainstream science. They’ve even established their own guild, the Flat Earth Society, complete with a trove of conspiracy theories where NASA often plays the villain in this anti-spherical saga.
For those who love a good roast, Bored Panda curated a collection of the best “Earth is flat” memes. Maybe humor is just the thing we needed to round out this flat debate. Don’t forget to upvote your favorites!

What is the Flat Earth Theory?
The flat Earth theory is a concept that suggests the Earth isn't a globe, as science has long confirmed, but rather a flat, disc-shaped platform. Those who believe in this theory question the conventional understanding of Earth’s shape, challenging the idea that it is a sphere spinning in space.
According to this theory, the Earth’s surface is a flat expanse with the North Pole at the center and a supposed ice wall, which some believe to be Antarctica, forming the perimeter, preventing people from tumbling off the edge. This model declares that gravity is an illusion and objects don't curve along the Earth’s surface but instead move in a way that creates the illusion of gravity.

Is the Flat Earth Theory Scientifically Supported?
The short answer is no. The flat Earth theory isn't supported by any scientific community. Centuries of research and observation have consistently supported a spherical Earth model. From the way ships disappear over the horizon to the images and data gathered from space travel and satellites, the evidence for a round Earth is extensive and multifaceted.
The theory, despite being debunked by centuries of scientific research and observation, carved out its own niche in the vast expanse of internet culture, sparking debates, discussions, and, of course, a whole universe of flat Earth memes.

Why Do Some People Believe in the Flat Earth Theory?
Belief in the flat Earth theory often stems from a deep-rooted skepticism of established authority and a preference for personal observation over scientific consensus. Flat-earthers often distrust governments, space agencies, and the scientific community, proposing that there is a coordinated effort to hide the truth of Earth’s shape.
In fact, they argue that all the evidence we have of a round Earth — like satellite images and physics — is simply part of a vast conspiracy.

Are Flat Earth Memes Meant to Be Taken Seriously?
While these flat Earth memes are crafted with a spirit of fun, they brush against the broader themes of scientific literacy and critical thinking. They aren't to be held up as scientific evidence — memes are simply a way to lightheartedly engage with a topic that, for some, is a subject of genuine debate. Their humor comes from pointing out the sheer absurdity of denying the Earth’s roundness, making us chuckle and think at the same time.

Are There Stories of Former Flat-Earthers?
You bet there are! For a peek into these confessions and what eventually tipped the scales for these once flat-minded thinkers, Bored Panda has collected stories from former flat-earthers. These individuals, after a period of staunch belief in a flat Earth, have had their views reshaped (quite literally) to align with the spherical world view supported by science.
Their stories often involve a critical moment of realization, sometimes through personal research, encounters with clear evidence, or conversations that opened eyes to a new perspective.

I'm convinced 99% of "flat eathers" know the earth is round but enjoy messing with people.
Seriously, all these conspiracy theoricists get way too much attention. What they believe is utterly absurd beyond the need to be disproven. Let's simply ignore them.
This flat Eart thing is just showing how easy it is to malipulate people. I think, that the whole point of this is so that people would not believe blindly in everything so called authorities are trying to sell as "universal truths" and start to think on their own. Many people will believe in anything, as long as it's advocated by someone they see as authority in some field. I see it this way.
I bet a lot of flat earth "believers" are fake anyway. But any who actually do believe it I think are addicted to having a special group where only they know what's going on. It's not about the logic for them, it's desperately holding on to something to feel better /smarter than other people and be part of an exclusive group.

I remember hearing about the Flat Earth Society when I was a kid in high school in the late 1960s.
wait if flat-earthers believe the earth is flat, then 1.) How far would we go through the earth before we fall through? 2.) Then does that mean that earthquakes travel in lines or waves? 3.) Does that mean we live on the top of the earth or the bottom? How would we be warm? 4.) If the earth is flat, then why does the weatherman always show on his map that the hurricane is shaped like a circle? and 5.) Uhm, Gravity anyone???
Flat earthers are just the tip of one crazy iceberg. They believe gravity doesn't exist, the moon is a projection, man has never gone into space, the sun is a fake. Then of course you have chemtrailers.
I told a flat earther that if I had the resources, I would fly them into space and show them Earth is not flat. They told me I would slip them hallucinogens to make them think it is a sphere.

I think it needs researched more. I have seen a lot and know with out a doubt, true facts that support flat earth. I’ll end saying this , the first time I heard it , I would say the same as everyone is on here. I knew what awful things this person was involved in and couldn’t rest, this person would not make it up. So I researched. Research it deeply.
All space footage is CGI, why is America different sizes in all the pictures of earth
Flat earth isnt about trying to prove the earth is flat.all the more well known flat earthers on youtube know it aint flat.its all about making money and when it comes to youtube they are making a f**k ton of it.
Just the same as people insisting the earth and all in and on it is made by a god. They're wrong!
NASA could lie about many things, but not that the earth is flat, I sort of believe it could be flat but the science behind it says differently... the earth is round
My main question to flat earth-ers is this. How do you explain people being able to sail and fly west from the Americas, and get to Australia, Japan etc without falling off? Equally, how do you go East from these places back to America without falling off?? I know that's a ridiculous thing to ask but I'd really really like to know how they explain that one?

FFS people. Stop it with these "proving the earth is round" silliness. The flat-earthers are just trolling. Grow up and move on.
I've never heard of these people. They can't be serious. Must be trolling for a reaction.
I am NOT a flat earther, but also.. This article lost credibility when they said "Millenials between the ages of 18 and 24 are more likely to believe the Earth is flat." Millenials are born between 1981 - 1996. So most of those who believe the Earth is flat are actually GENERATION Z. Christ.
