This All-Female Auto Shop Will Do Your Hair And Nails While They Fix Your Car
Girls Auto Clinic isn’t just in the business of changing oil – they’re also changing the relationship between women and the automotive industry, and offering a range of salon services to sweeten the deal.
Founded by engineer and mechanic Patrice Banks, the shop is a stress-free space for women to have their cars serviced, and to learn more about vehicles in a respectful and supportive manner. GAC was born out of the frustration and mistreatment female customers often face when dealing with male mechanics, and combats it by empowering women to become #sheCANics, a hashtag Banks even uses to describe herself.
Though GAC has been open near Philadelphia since 2013, the shop’s latest addition, Clutch Beauty Bar, is bringing it a whole new wave of fame. Clutch offers customers manicures, pedicures, and blowouts while they wait for the mechanics to finish with their car. Basically, not only will you leave Girls Auto Club with a freshly serviced ride, you’ll also have traffic-stopping hair and nails. Workforce equality done in style!

Load More Replies...I love it! I work on my own F-350 diesel pickup most of the time, because I'm afraid of being taken advantage of. Last time I had work done in a shop, it took my dad to storm in there and demand replacement for a faulty part. Why should it take a man for a mechanic to give me bare minimum customer service?
alas, it's needed to often :/ . Sometimes, my mother ask for a male friend to come with, just so that she doesnt get fooled. And the other side, my female colleagues get shouted at on the phone and then the client calms down ones it is transferd to a male colleague ... i find it quite sad that we have to fit to such a backward society -.-
Load More Replies...If there is a market for it why not? :) Time will tell if the formula is sustainable or not like any other bussiness. Variety and choice is always good for the customer.
No disrespect to women at all! what the F People???? you think this is a great idea but then a man only barber shop is outrageously sexist! An all black school and or a white only footy team is racist! It's all c**p it ain't matter what your sex, colour or culture is it's all relative as a male when I go into mensland cloths shop it's full of women trying to sell me cloths I don't need nor do I know anything about! I just want a jumper not a tailed blah blah blah oh but no you need this(apparently). So what's the difference??? How many cloths do you buy compared to car services ! My Chinese shop still won't make my food chilli enough even though they know me by name and been goin there for years because they stereotype me! I could go on for days on the ways and amount of time I've been stereotyped and judged as a 6"6" red bearded man!
I dont really get why anybody has to be seperated.
Load More Replies...Just because it's all female does not mean ignorant customers will not be taken advantage of. Your best defense is to educate yourself about the cost of the parts and labor and have some mechanical awareness.
Just luv this,I've often, very often, talked about this. I'M SO HAPPY TO SEE THIS.GOOD LUCK to everyone, hope to see more of these.

Awesome way to go I've had this idea for 20 years. Keep up the good work even wear my black and pink I always imagined it would be. Girl power !!!!!
Trusting any business anymore is limited , so it nice to see that this business is built on the grounds of woman trusting woman... no sexual bs. They need to go into more then oul changes and be a full fledge shop. Love your concept. I wanted to take mechanics in school but the school board would not allow it in the 70's ❤️❤️❤️
they need to understand safety procedures alittle better, sure they are almost perfect put that one women with the curly hair shouldn't be remotely close to the machines with her hair out and about also lack of gloves and safety glasses is concerning
Yeas ago when I said I wanted to be a mechanic in the military I was asked why because I was a female. I was then told by that same soilder I wouldn't be taking serious because I was a female. This is so great to see. It's better then working with guys that stare at you the while you are trying to work instead of teaching me like they were supposed to be doing.
Service writers will lie to anyone, male or female, about a car. I used to be an auto tech, and personally? I didn't want the customer anywhere near my stall unless the manager was with and they absolutely need to see the problem. This to me is less a gender stereotype and more about dishonesty and taking advantage of people who aren't educated. Today's younger generation knows ABSOLUTELY nothing about cars. I went to work on small craft and boats because the auto industry sucks
I really found it funny that on one of the pictures, the lady was on heels
