Sometimes it’s hard to motivate yourself to hit the gym and get swole. But a six and even seven-figure salary might just do the trick. Recently, a Marvel fan compiled photos of actors before and after they got to play their badass superhero roles, and their body transformations are incredible. Of course, many demanding roles have actors working way before they even step foot on the set, but if you’re beating up bad guys for breakfast, there’s no question about it. A ripped body is a must.

Chris Pratt
Chris Pratt, for example, went through “three or four hours a day of consistent, ass-kicking exercise program” to be able to star in Guardians of the Galaxy. Before ditching 60 pounds in six months, he weighed around 300 pounds. Marvel paired Pratt with personal trainer Duffy Gaver and nutritionist Phil Goglia. Goglia revamped Pratt’s diet, hiking his caloric intake to 4,000 calories a day and adding lots and lots of water— one for every pound he weighed. “I was peeing all day long every day. That part was a nightmare,” Pratt said. Pratt said he purposely gained weight for his Parks and Recreation character Andy Dwyer, but now he’s committed to leading a healthy lifestyle: “It gave me a sense of absolute control,” he said.
Chris Hemsworth
Out of all the famous actors who had to pack on mass for their Marvel movie, few had taken up the task with such dedication and success as Chris Hemsworth when he landed the part of Thor. For the first film, Hemsworth teamed up with a trainer and former Navy SEAL, Duffy Gaver, who applied an old-school bodybuilding approach — with careful attention given to Hemsworth’s arms and shoulders. Thor, after all, often appears sleeveless but rarely shirtless. All in all, Hemsworth gained 20 pounds, laying the foundation for a physique he’s maintained at or close to peak condition for Thor’s recurring role in The Avengers and the solo sequel, Thor: The Dark World.
Eventually, Hemsworth became a model of consistency, and the physique he built has made the “Chris Hemsworth Workout” the top search suggestion when you type his name into Google. “People see Chris, and they think he was on steroids, but he didn’t touch a single substance,” Gaver says. “It was just red meat, heavy weights, and some protein powder. He crushed every single workout from the exercise plan. He simply decided to look like Thor.”

Here’s what people said about it
Maybe it's just me, but I don't see the "dramatic" transformation in most of them. Except for Chris Pratt, Paul Rudd and Jeremy Renner, the other four were already fit, they just gained some more muscle. Which of course takes work, I just think the title of this article is a little too, eh, "dramatic".
I mean some of them were less of dramatic physical transformation, but like say rdj for example, in a sense he was the biggest due to the fact he beat his addiction and got his life fully back on track.
Load More Replies...I'm glad there are explanations that a lot of work (and money for a trainer) goes into building muscle for a role. Some folks got on Jason Momoa's case for not showing six-pack abs on his downtime.
It's not just the huge salary, but like it mentions for Chris Pratt, the studio pays for their personal trainer (to show up and push them and motivate them) and dietician and chef, etc etc... yeah they're doing the workouts but a lot of the pain-in-the-a*s s**t gets done for them. But you can also see how hard it is to maintain that kind of body— since after they're done they all kind of... pudge out a bit. Or at least lose a good chunk of muscle mass.
Yeah. I know a few body builders who take part in serious competitions. And they ALL drop a lot of that muscle between comps. It’s takes SERIOUS work to maintain that muscle and build for every day. It also takes a toll on the body too. If you’re not maintaining your diet and exercise plan daily you will lose all those gains. And as mentioned in other comments here. It takes a fair amount of money and often a personal trainer to keep that going.
