Dad Tells Daughter About Their Cat’s Death, But Soon The Story Takes A Hilariously Unexpected Turn
Losing a pet is a traumatic experience, so when one family’s missing cat was found dead by the roadside, everybody was obviously pretty cut up about it. Kitty the Cat, a 7-year-old pastel Calico, was found by the Schmidt family’s mom, but it was left up to her husband Eric to break the news to the kids. “When your mom drove the neighborhood just now, she found her in the street near the house. Your mom is pretty emotional so please reach out when you can and offer your support.” As you can see however, that’s not quite the end of the story…

But the story soon took an unexpected turn!
Needless to say, everybody was pretty surprised

Share on FacebookFor those saying this is FAKE. This exact story happened to my friend George. The cat went missing, and later they found a dead cat laying on the street. My friend asked his mom to come and identify the cat (it had some very specific markings) and after inspection mom burst into tears: "It's him," she said. George put the body in some plastic bag, spent hours searching for a spot to bury it and digging the hole himself. After a few days his mom calls him and says "the cat just came home." We laughed so hard after hearing this story. He buried some random stray cat! (don't get me wrong, I feel really bad for that cat too:/)
This make it even stranger...I thought the story said the vet said that it was a rabbit.

I agree with you, Hans. I'm afraid nowadays people are so hungry for attention (an upvote, a thumb up) they simply share everything and anything with the entire world. I like the internet to share and sicover stories that are interesting, heartwarming, and/or that raise awareness, you know, things that matter and that are REAL. Nevertheless, having to check everything all the time because facts don't make sense or are a bit twisted, or seeing a lot of stories that aren't relevant at all it's a real bummer.

This is NOT hilarious. Now some poor owner has no idea what's happened to their cat. It's fine for the people who buried the cat and turned out it was the wrong one, clearly they don't care anymore. I'm appalled that this is being labeled "hilatious". It's just sad.
This story is not hilarious - it's sad. Losing a pet is a horrible thing, especially when you find them in the road. At least the other cat got a decent burial. I wonder if someone is looking for him/her. Not a happy ending for everyone, and not funny. But it is an interesting story. And to those who are saying they heard this story - this is not a story about burying an animal that is so out of it it seems dead, only to have it dig up out of the dirt. This is a case of mistaken identity. It clearly says that in the story.
NO bunny in this story. The others were referring to the story that a person buried their dead - supposedly - bunny, only to find it wasn't dead, and dug its way out of the grave. These people found and buried the wrong cat.

I hope you've posted flyers about the buried cat in case someone else is looking for their beloved furbaby!! Everyone needs closure!!
Same thing happened to us.. my mother-in-law called about midnight said she seen a cat that looks like ours dead on the street across from where we lived. We went and sure enough it was a large orange tabby just like our " peanut" I took it home. In the morning I asked our son to please burry it before we got back from his sister's ball game. He did. After a few days our daughter notice he hadn't come home. We told her he must have run away..she was sad but not as sad as she would have been if I had told her he was dead... 2 weeks later I heard something at the back door.. pulled back the curtains and there was PEANUT!!. After a bunch of hugs I got an idea... My son was still in bed. So I took peanut up to his room and put him on his chest. When he opened his eyes...IT SCARED THE C**P OUT OF HIM!!! LOL.. He even got dressed and went out to look where he buried the cat... Luckily it wasn't our peanut.
This happened to me as well. I was driving home from work one day and I saw a small grey cat and thought it was my cat Rocky. I took him home and buried him in the back yard. Then i went out front to get something and there he was sitting in the driveway.
BTW, I didn't think it was funny but i was relieved. And I was glad to have buried the cat because around here people will run over dead animals in the street until they just disintegrate. No respect for life.

That's pretty funny. People are too sensitive. I've had cats and dogs as pets, and have been torn up when they die, but that's life.
OMG!! I'm glad the cat is ok. Feel bad for the other cat. That was a really extrange situation!!
Hilarious? All the feelings of grief they were experiencing someone else is now. Only f
Should be on a rope and harness!!! We went thru that with two cats hit by cars before we learned our lesson . Thanks
Can you please tell me why do you think it's FAKE? Maybe I'm missing something, I don't know. Thank you. :)
