Woman Posts Pics Of Her ‘Slashed Tire’ On Twitter, But Someone Quickly Proves She’s Lying And It’s Hilarious
Nothing ruins your day like finding slashed tires on your vehicle. And then finding out that it wasn’t actually slashed, it just gave up on life because you refused to change it. And then continuing to say it was cut anyway.
Conservative activist and chronic attention seeker Laura Loomer recently took to Twitter to inform the world that a dry, rotting car tire on her jeep had been savagely brutalized. That’s right. Someone was mad enough at her to leave a slashed tire, but not all of them – just one, multiple times. It’s a harrowing story, except for the fact that Laura’s bluff was humiliatingly busted by one car-savvy commentator, which unleashed a relentless stream of car memes, spin-off Twitter accounts for the fallen tire, and even a fake GoFundMe page that showed Laura supposedly raising cash for a new tire AND car (which, sadly, has now been taken down).
Poor Laura tried to recover her pride, but alas, she only fueled the fire. She may have failed at creating a publicity stunt this time, but at least the rest of us learned an important lesson from it all – don’t drive on tires from 2006. Just don’t do it. Probably a combination of things. Having been a James O'Keefe disciple, she is used to confrontations. But mostly she is like the overwhelming majority of women, and the majority of males: they have little, or no, mechanical aptitude at all. Anybody unable to see what caused the wear and tear on a tire like that, is also blind to curbs too. :D

It just goes to show that people on both sides of the aisle attempt these shenanigans. As someone who works in the auto business, if I appraised that car those tires would be marked as "need to be replaced." They sure wouldn't pass a state inspection. Second, while it may not have been a blowout from hitting a curb, she sure looks like she's hit a lot of curbs, to the point that the metal in the tires is showing. They look like they have dry rot.

I don't know who she is, I live in Sydney. I DO work in a tyre shop, and see this damage every day of my life. For what ever reason, the tyre has been driven on whilst flat, the most telling photo would be from when it was dismounted from the wheel- would have been full of "rubber gravel" from the tyre deteriorating.

If a liar and manipulator wants to believe something they will go to the far corners of the earth to convince themselves (and others) that it's true. Even when it's an obvious blatant lie. Even when they KNOW it's a lie. They will continue to lie and justify until they are satisfied that they've fooled not only other people, but also themselves. It's not a political thing either. I don't think it really has much to do with their beliefs on politics or government. It's more of a personality and mental defect.

I am no "expert" of any kind but if the sidewall of my tyre looked like that (even without the "slashes" ) I would have got it changed a long time ago. The rubber looks like it is perished.

Tire was too old; it has dry rot. Also, it's been abused: it's been curbed and rode on with low tire pressure. The other tires are probably in the same shape. Time for a new set of tires.

Dry rot, sitting in the sun for years, scraping against the curb, they weren’t cuts they were cracks, the tire shop just didn’t want to humiliate a potential customer.😂

Not only was the tire-slasher a vandal, he or she was also a magician who was somehow able to know exactly which direction the cords were aligned inside the sidewall (inside the rubber and invisible to the eye), and perfectly cut the tire without cutting ANY of those cord threads. Amazing! Note: Those cords are aligned in plys on tires, and they provide the strength and overall shape of a tire. The rubber compound protects those cords as well as providing adhesion with the driving surface. Once the rubber compound "rots" with age and abuse, it becomes brittle and less pliant, eventually leaving the cords/plys unprotected. The cords will then separate, as shown in the photos, and will no longer hold air. As soon as one set of cords splits, others will quickly split, too. If Loomer had been stopped by a cop with a functioning brain, she would have gotten a ticket at the very least, or been ordered to park the car until the tires were replaced.

Actually the green valve probably has nothing to do with where the tires were bought. Many tire dealers use the green caps when they have inflated the tires with nitrogen rather than air.

Laura's handwriting is slanted to the right, and spaced very close together. The other handwriting is slanted to the left, and more space between the letters and words themselves. The numbers in the dates are really different. For example: One 8 is a continuous loop, while the other, has two small loops stacked on top of one another. One 3 has a sharp top with a curvy bottom and the other 3 has two curves of the same size. The 7's are the most obvious. One 7 has a sweeping motion for a continuous line. The other has three distinctive sharp movements. And lastly the slants to separate the dates. One has slants that are almost vertical, and the other clearly leaning to the right.

Very interesting. The investigatory interest by the initial answerer is worthy of the Marissa Tomei character in My Cousin Vinny: expertise and totally convincing. This happened to us the same way in a pothole. Ultimately it is a comforting analysis - not targeted, perhaps clumsy and inattentive. We notice those cuts appear would have taken significant strength to do that by hand.

This was a run-low tire. if this had a sensor the light in the dash would have been on. The many separations of the plies in the side wall only happen with great temperature buildup, temp buildup caused by tire flexing repeatedly, flexing caused by run low.

I have a car and the tyres on it were actually older than hers but...well maintained, kept at the right pressure and low mileage. I replaced them anyway due to the rubber sidewalls starting to crack. Never by cheap tyres from a supermarket, if you want cheap tyres by them from a tyre dealer, and not second hand ones.

Having a car with a tire in that condition before the alleged “slashing” (rubbish) could have caused a serious accident. Being stopped by the police in UK with one in that condition would have resulted in a fine and points on her driving licence. Car would have been impounded if she did also not have a serviceable spare. Better check other tires in case the Phantom slasher comes back….

ok lady tell us when was the last time you bought tires and where they new?... we know and can tell cracked ,dried, faded, etc, are a long gone overdue need for replacement, when chunks are coming off you just been lucky they did not blew up even at 40mph or 60mph you could has easily killed yourself or worse other people for your stupidity! let`s thank god they keep getting flat until they get replaced!

Lots of places use green valve caps. The place where I take my care for service uses green caps if you pay for Nitrogen for the life of the tire instead of regular air. Also, like Michelle Bachmann and Sarah Palin, she may not be lying, just stupid--or a combination of both.

Obviously the tire was flat and driven on for many miles . Sometimes people do that knowingly, to get to a garage where they can get a new tire . On the front wheel it would be hard to control the car even at slow speed .

It just goes to show that people on both sides of the aisle attempt these shenanigans. As someone who works in the auto business, if I appraised that car those tires would be marked as "need to be replaced." They sure wouldn't pass a state inspection. Second, while it may not have been a blowout from hitting a curb, she sure looks like she's hit a lot of curbs, to the point that the metal in the tires is showing. They look like they have dry rot.

I don't know who she is, I live in Sydney. I DO work in a tyre shop, and see this damage every day of my life. For what ever reason, the tyre has been driven on whilst flat, the most telling photo would be from when it was dismounted from the wheel- would have been full of "rubber gravel" from the tyre deteriorating.

If a liar and manipulator wants to believe something they will go to the far corners of the earth to convince themselves (and others) that it's true. Even when it's an obvious blatant lie. Even when they KNOW it's a lie. They will continue to lie and justify until they are satisfied that they've fooled not only other people, but also themselves. It's not a political thing either. I don't think it really has much to do with their beliefs on politics or government. It's more of a personality and mental defect.

I am no "expert" of any kind but if the sidewall of my tyre looked like that (even without the "slashes" ) I would have got it changed a long time ago. The rubber looks like it is perished.

Tire was too old; it has dry rot. Also, it's been abused: it's been curbed and rode on with low tire pressure. The other tires are probably in the same shape. Time for a new set of tires.

Not only was the tire-slasher a vandal, he or she was also a magician who was somehow able to know exactly which direction the cords were aligned inside the sidewall (inside the rubber and invisible to the eye), and perfectly cut the tire without cutting ANY of those cord threads. Amazing! Note: Those cords are aligned in plys on tires, and they provide the strength and overall shape of a tire. The rubber compound protects those cords as well as providing adhesion with the driving surface. Once the rubber compound "rots" with age and abuse, it becomes brittle and less pliant, eventually leaving the cords/plys unprotected. The cords will then separate, as shown in the photos, and will no longer hold air. As soon as one set of cords splits, others will quickly split, too. If Loomer had been stopped by a cop with a functioning brain, she would have gotten a ticket at the very least, or been ordered to park the car until the tires were replaced.

Actually the green valve probably has nothing to do with where the tires were bought. Many tire dealers use the green caps when they have inflated the tires with nitrogen rather than air.

Laura's handwriting is slanted to the right, and spaced very close together. The other handwriting is slanted to the left, and more space between the letters and words themselves. The numbers in the dates are really different. For example: One 8 is a continuous loop, while the other, has two small loops stacked on top of one another. One 3 has a sharp top with a curvy bottom and the other 3 has two curves of the same size. The 7's are the most obvious. One 7 has a sweeping motion for a continuous line. The other has three distinctive sharp movements. And lastly the slants to separate the dates. One has slants that are almost vertical, and the other clearly leaning to the right.

Very interesting. The investigatory interest by the initial answerer is worthy of the Marissa Tomei character in My Cousin Vinny: expertise and totally convincing. This happened to us the same way in a pothole. Ultimately it is a comforting analysis - not targeted, perhaps clumsy and inattentive. We notice those cuts appear would have taken significant strength to do that by hand.

This was a run-low tire. if this had a sensor the light in the dash would have been on. The many separations of the plies in the side wall only happen with great temperature buildup, temp buildup caused by tire flexing repeatedly, flexing caused by run low.

I have a car and the tyres on it were actually older than hers but...well maintained, kept at the right pressure and low mileage. I replaced them anyway due to the rubber sidewalls starting to crack. Never by cheap tyres from a supermarket, if you want cheap tyres by them from a tyre dealer, and not second hand ones.

Having a car with a tire in that condition before the alleged “slashing” (rubbish) could have caused a serious accident. Being stopped by the police in UK with one in that condition would have resulted in a fine and points on her driving licence. Car would have been impounded if she did also not have a serviceable spare. Better check other tires in case the Phantom slasher comes back….

ok lady tell us when was the last time you bought tires and where they new?... we know and can tell cracked ,dried, faded, etc, are a long gone overdue need for replacement, when chunks are coming off you just been lucky they did not blew up even at 40mph or 60mph you could has easily killed yourself or worse other people for your stupidity! let`s thank god they keep getting flat until they get replaced!

Lots of places use green valve caps. The place where I take my care for service uses green caps if you pay for Nitrogen for the life of the tire instead of regular air. Also, like Michelle Bachmann and Sarah Palin, she may not be lying, just stupid--or a combination of both.

Obviously the tire was flat and driven on for many miles . Sometimes people do that knowingly, to get to a garage where they can get a new tire . On the front wheel it would be hard to control the car even at slow speed .
