Expressive Animal Portraits Reveal Their Strong ‘Human’ Emotions
Many of us see animals as human beings’ equals, so it’s only natural that some photographers see them this way as well. Vincent Lagrange, a professional photographer in Antwerp, Belgium, captured the human side of beautiful animals by taking serious and dignified portrait photography shots of the sort that we humans like to take off each other. His photo series is called “Human Animal.”
“I tried to take these animal pictures as if they were humans, depicting their emotion and human-like characteristics in a somber way,” Lagrange told Yatzer. And indeed, the serious mood of these pet portraits encourages us to examine animals’ faces and read into their emotions.
Legrange was inspired to shoot the animal photography series by his cat, Dwiezel. Understandably, he said that the hardest part of this studio photography project was getting the animals to sit still so he could get the shot he wanted!
