I would call it a whole new level of peace and quiet. I miss newspapers in the bar at 10am on a Sunday morning, over bacon and eggs…
What lol? The first woman just tells on herself and her own deep insecurities. Never let being alone stop you from doing what you want with your life!
Before we met my wife used to absolutely love going to restaurants on her own. She says she got the best service from staff you could imagine.
This evening, I've had the first dinner alone at a restaurant in years! And while it was a little strange at first, the staff was just so kind and welcoming that I've booked again for Friday. Honestly, your wife is right and eating alone is great!
Load More Replies...I eat in restaurants alone more often then with another person. Just takes some practice like everything else
Saves having to discuss who pays, or how to split the bill.
Load More Replies...Nothing wrong with eating out on your own, going shopping on your own or going to the cinema on your own.
I used to work away a lot. The number of times I've had a "table for one". Just embrace it and go eat somewhere nice. I walked miles looking for nice places to eat and as a consequence actually saw a reasonable amount of the places I visited.
Traveled for work a lot and the first time was weird but it got easy after a few times and then it was rather freeing as I had my company paying for whatever I wanted so sky's the limit. PS drinks were not reimbursed so I wasn't drinking alone.
Load More Replies...Eating alone in public restaurant is another whole new level of 'eating whatever I want to without wasting 10 mins on what-do-you-want-to-eat'
For me eating alone is just a time of relaxing. Sitting where I want to I can watch other people and enjoy my meal in my time. No one is rushing me, has the urge to talk to me and everything is just fine.
It does feel a little weird sometimes but on the other hand, as a single diner, I am often seated a lot faster than larger parties.
I've chosen to eat at the bar and chatted up the bar tender or other patrons. Some are friendly, some aren't but you won't know unless you say something.
Load More Replies...I am at college, and there is a lovely little cafe five minutes away from campus that I will go eat brunch at every Sunday after Church. I order the same thing, sit in the same spot and bring a book and read. I have become recognized by two of the lovely employees there. I always go alone. I used to be a bit scared, but now I don't mind. I love eating my food, drinking my coffee, putting on my headphones and blocking out the world while I read.
I mean, so if I don't have anyone to go with me, I just shouldn't eat? Or I should eat at home out of shame? No, F that. I'm going to go enjoy some good food with the best company: myself.
It depends on if you are eating alone by choice, or because no one will go with you.
When I moved to a new area where I knew no one, that no longer mattered to me. The question became: do I enjoy my life now or wait until I find someone else to come along?
Load More Replies...I do this for years and it never occured to me as weird until someone made me aware of it. Now i feel weird bit still prefer to eat alone. Wish i would have kept my ignorance.
The only people who think doing any activity alone is weird are deeply insecure and base all of their self worth on the approval of others
Load More Replies...I'd eat alone rather than make forced convo with a colleague any day
Eating alone in a restaurant is amazing because you get to go wherever you want without having to consider anyone else's preferences. You can sit on your phone, or put in some earbuds and just zone out. You can also take as much (within reason) or as little time as you want. Lovely.
I love eating alone sometimes. I bring a book, I nibble some fries. Perfection.
I love eating by myself. Can take my time, no annoying chit chat, etc.
I sometimes treat myself to a nice southern Italian restaurant. And I do it alone, because I'm there for the food and the food only. I want to enjoy it without talking.
I eat alone in restaurants because I like to go out to eat and I don't drive, (Covid was really hard because takeout places only had the drive thru open and sit down restaurants were only doing Skip the Dishes.) It is nice to be around people without having to interact with them. Sit down order my meal, open my book, I'm good.
eating alone in a public restaurant doesn't need any comment. anything special?
I wasn't confident enough to go into a restaurant alone until I left my husband when I was eight months pregnant and drove 1,400 miles in two days to get to a safe place. Once I got far enough away, I pulled off the freeway and walked into a restaurant; my newfound confidence blew me away.
I'm sorry, eating alone in a restaurant is a version of NORMAL - neither level of loneliness NOR level of confidence. Why does there have to be a Judgement (good or bad)?
I remember going to a restaurant, and the hostess asking, "Are you dining alone? I said, "Nope. I'm on a date with an interesting person, ME!"
It is a bit of a mix of both really, the freedom of self choice and confidence but having no-one to talk to. At least you don't have to risk saying the wrong thing.
I do this often, and enjoy a nice meal someone else prepared, and someone else washes the dishes. It's all good.
I do it a lot and don't feel any shame or loneliness. I'm having a nice meal I didn't have to prepare, and someone else will wash the dishes. It's all good.
I eat out alone whenever I want to. Some years ago, I was enjoying my dinner, when a guy from another table just pulled out a chair at my table and sat down. I had to get the manager to get rid of him. If I wanted company, I would have invited a friend along.
If you have a book, you aren't alone. It is nice to eat alone and not have to talk while eating.
There’s so many reasons why a person could be eating alone. What a strange hot take.
I work for a living. I eat lunch alone in restaurants every day. A new level of loneliness would be eating a brown bag lunch in my car.
I've dined, seen movies, and everything else to do in life on my own. I can't emphasise enough how fantastic it is to he totally in charge of your own experiences. It's incredibly fulfilling.
I love eating at my own pace, being able to spread out, focus on my food. Eating alone is awesome.

I went on a week long holiday mountain biking in Wales,UK by myself because none of my mates were into it. I didn't care, some fantastic riding out there, I wasn't going to miss out. I really didn't enjoy going out for dinner or having a couple of quiet beers in a pub each evening, I'd get seated away from the main dining area so I wouldn't be embarrassed by being alone and despite looking what I thought was quite content with a pint of beer, reading a book in a pub, I was asked several times if I wanted to join other groups to be social. I wasn't embarrassed and didn't need any company but it seemed to be way more of a problem for other people than it was for me.
Eating alone in a public restaurant is a sign that that person is hungry.
Did it for the first time 40 years ago. My first trip overseas in my early 20's. Having dinner in a Restaurant in Vancouver. Two young men came over and asked me was I ok? Was I waiting for someone? No I said just travelling on my own. lol!
I really need to know the dogs name so that I can make up theme songs about their friendship in my head...
So, there’s a meme page on Facebook called Epic Texts. Its legacy points towards the idea of having shared predominantly funny texts as memes, but has since then branched out to include regular, run-of-the-mill memes too.
The page was created just before the pandemic hit in February, 2020, and has since then accumulated a following of 54,000 people.
That's just wholesome! And just the kind of professionals we need more and more around us!
If you dive deeper into the internet, you can find opinions on various forum platforms like Reddit and Quora of folks debating whether memes still have it in them.
Face value, that’s understandable. Memes aren’t for everyone, and hence there will be people who never find it funny. Then there are others who think they have overstayed their welcome, or have run their course on the internet.
It always amaze me that cats don't meow to each other, they just talk to us, this one was just really seducting and it worked !
One internaut pointed out that memes haven’t been funny to them ever since ca. 2018. In their post, they mentioned the likes of Ugandan knuckles, VR chat, DDLC, Logan Paul, "Pictures preceding unfortunate events," Spaget and more, which were “peak”, but nothing significant thereafter.
And the cat is somewhere in the middle, very confused thinking "what the hell is going on here?" 😅
For others, memes were never really funny. One such netizen asked the question as to why and one Quorian pointed out that memes don’t have to be inherently that. They are obnoxious, rude or antagonistic, but not really funny.
And since it’s a form of communication for some, it doesn’t have to be funny all the time. Especially with topics that are hard to verbalize, like mental health or just pure sadness.
There are also folks, however, who have always loved memes. Even if they are now past their expiration date.
One Redditor vented about how folks are quick to declare a meme dead and by proxy they assume it’s no longer funny. That’s not how humor works, nor is it based on objectivism. In the words of this one Redditor, “There's a video that actually explains why dead memes are still around."
All jokes aside, the discussion continued elaborating what it really means for a meme to be dead. It’s not necessarily how long they lived, but rather how often people used and abused it. And since everyone experiences meme frequencies differently, everyone thus thinks certain memes are dead or not. And also funny or not.
Another Redditor also elaborated that the same applies for a number of other things. Music and fashion are prime examples as, say, people might listen to some songs on repeat, but sooner or later they might just become so meh that they could get removed from playlists. But that’s subjective experience, and otherwise doesn’t mean that something is dead per se.
Nothing makes me happier than to see a dog that enjoys his job. 🥰
To be fair, there is a slight nuance. In reference to movies, different movies from different eras have different structures to appeal to different strokes of different folks. Say that ten times fast. Action movies, for instance, these days are significantly faster than they used to be back in the day. Memes can be subject to that too, if given enough time.
“The parliament of overprotective owls” sounds like it has a potential movie script in it 🦉🤎 ...And we would watch!
:-) That remind me of an incident years ago when my daughter was about 6 years old. I had been made redundant and the company I (no longer) worked for did a marketing stunt at their flagship store where people could write on post-it notes and stick them to the big front window. My daughter wrote one that said, "WHY DID YOU MAKE MUMMY LOSE HER JOB?".
Revenge prank: Photocopy a piece of their favorite candy.. Get it on film, and you might have an AFV winner! 😏

“Yeah, Jeff, the best kind of cat IS the kind you own, think about that for a second.”
My daughter puts mascara on in the car, I announce "BUMP" every time we hit a, well, a bump, so she knows to take the wand away from her eye. Scary thing is when I accidentally do it when alone ...
