There are friends, there are co-workers, there are lovers and total strangers. Since no man is an island, we live surrounded by people we like, tolerate or dislike.
But there’s one peculiar group of people we basically spend all our lives with. We constantly catch up during reunions, dinners, or Christmas, spend time together as kids (and adults!), send congratulations cards to each other and feel obliged to be patient no matter how much they’d annoy us. And the fact that we often have little in common except being tied in blood makes it all the more crazy.
This is, of course, when we talk about ‘difficult’ relatives, and not the ones that are seriously our most loved people on earth (I am looking at you, cousin!) So today, we’re diving into the not-the-most-pleasant encounters where people ran into ridiculously entitled family members.
Get ready to fume like this post was a Russian 'banya,’ scroll down through the stories and be sure to share your experience of sharing a family with a person who feels like they inherently deserve more than anyone else!

I admire this person calm demeanour, held their sh*t together so well. I'd have delivered the books, with a right hook.
“It's totally OK not to get along with some of your relatives,” Francis Merson, Clinical Psychologist and Founder of the Paris Psychology Centre, told Bored Panda. “In fact, it would be remarkable to get along with the multitude of cousins, aunts, nephews, second cousins etc. that most of us have.”
So no wonder that conflicts happen now and then, and it seems like there’s never really peace in your extended family. “If there's been some kind of conflict with a relative, it can be useful to zoom out from the situation with the following thought experiment... Imagine you're at the very end of your life, and you're looking back on your current situation. What advice would you give to yourself now? To smooth things over with this relative and keep the peace? Or let the relationship slide and move on?”
According to Merson, there's no right or wrong answer to these questions, “but they can take you out of the heat of the moment and prompt you to reflect on which course of action is most in line with your deeper values.”

The clinical psychologist explained that entitlement is an entrenched belief that you deserve more than other people do. “Entitled people often feel that the rules don't apply to them, and they should be allowed to act with impunity. A sense of entitlement can also be involved in Narcissistic Personality Disorder,” Merson explained and added that “Entitled people can often cross people's boundaries, because they think these boundaries don't apply to them.”

Wow. I'm genuinely shocked that a mom would talk to her kid like that over a freaking Netflix subscription.

Oh My God, What A Spoiled Brat
When asked how one should deal with an entitled relative, Merson said that you may have to come to terms with it. “If your relative is an entitled person, you might need to accept that you're not going to alter this personality trait by calling them out on their behavior (as tempting as it might be to do so!).”
Moreover, “Entitled people generally react poorly to criticism, and might end up putting all the blame on you,” Merson said. He continued: “So the first question to consider is: would it be wiser and kinder to myself just to let this go? This doesn't mean accepting that what they did was right or OK, but accepting that there's nothing useful you can do about it right now.”

I'm sorry you are going through this. I am in a similar situation. It never ceases to amaze me how vicious family can become when they think there is money...jackals they are! No offense to true jackals.
That being said, there are some things you can't just let go. The clinical psychologist said that “if your relative has crossed a line that could result in physical or emotional harm to yourself or others, then of course you have to act.”
“In this case, basic assertiveness can be useful. Describe, in simple terms, their behavior, the effect it is having on others—and ask them politely to stop. If they don't stop, then problem-solve the situation by looking after the people who you feel are at risk of harm—which could mean just getting out of there,” Merson concluded.

No You Can't Come Grieve Your Sister...
Yes. You are the a*$*holes. My first stepmother had the same name as me. Yeah it was weird seeing 'my' name on the order of service and later on, the gravestone, but nobody made a big deal out of it, certainly not me. To actually deny a family member the chance to say goodbye just because they look like the deceased is extremely selfish. I get that they're grieving, but the only acceptable reason for asking a family member to stay away is if the deceased personally requested it or family history suggests that it would be a bad idea to have certain relatives in close proximity.

Well he can obviously get up and cook his own damn dinner and shut the hell up.
Honestly this meal looks fine, I don’t understand his issue!

Looks perfectly yummy to me. A meal cooked for me by somebody I love- what's to complain about?
Where is the problem? One time my husband made me Mac and cheese and somehow forgot to drain it (I know! I know! I think he was stoned and we also don't really eat boxed Mac n cheese but we hadn't been to the shops yet) and I ate that s**t with a smile on my face because I was grateful for the meal! It wasn't the tastiest. But I didn't wanna make him feel bad. I waited until the next day and said "hey, just FYI , you gotta drain the noodles next time!" And he burst out laughing and said "omg I was wondering why it tasted so funky!" Sure, I could have been like "wow! You make me water Mac n cheese when you could have went and bought me a filet mignon and lobster? Like... how dare you make me what's easy, cheap and available! Bastard!!!" If that were my husband I'd out some wolfsbane in his pasta!
What a piece of sh!t. Really hope dessert was divorce papers for the man
Yes, this is dinner, and probably all she had time and energy for after dealing with your childish ass all day.
Combo pasta bolognaise! Cool! I haven't made one of those for years!
looks good to me i would be very grateful to have a wife cook for me because i could just do it myslef hell i would be grateful to have a husband that will cook for me
that looks like an advertisement in a restaurant! who wouldn’t want to eat that?
Well he would definitely complain if he were married to me...I'll mix elbows with fettuccini and add ketchup for bolder flavor... 🤣🤣🤣
I just don't understand some people. My husband has severe OCD so he'd be annoyed by this, but he wouldn't put it on the internet as he likes privacy. Why are so many people posting stuff like this to shame someone they supposedly love?
I love that my husband and I cook together. Sometimes whomever else is there jumps in. Even my 4 year old granddaughter gets on a chair with her safety kids' knife, apron, and chefs hat and cuts up veggies. She should make dinner for one and sit down and eat in front of his lazy butt.
He can do it himself in the future, and show her how it ought to be done, then.
I date a guy like this: made him breakfast quick for work (sausage egg and cheese sam with microwaved eggs and precooked sausage). He threw it against the wall and told me to make something edible.
I would have preferred to hear that you used to date him.
Load More Replies...I am Italian and I am really picky about food. I usually cook for me and my wife, but occasionally, when I have hard days she cooks for us both. I am by far the better cook, being Italian, but when she does cook, even if it's not at my standards, I thank her and I eat the f*****g thing with a smile on my face and with genuine gratefulness. You terrible, terrible spoiled child. PS: as long as she accounted for the different cooking times, which doesn;t take a nuclear scientist to figure out, pasta is pasta. In fact, looking at the thickness, their cooking times are likely similar. Not that your spoiled ass would be able to tell the difference. It also looks like the sauce may be from a can, but of good quality.
One of the greatest things about my husband of 18 years is that he never complains about what I cook and always thanks me when I go cook. He gets really upset at our kids when they complain (I've become a pretty darn good cook, but kids are still kids) and reminds them that they should always be grateful when someone else does something for them. This guy needs to learn from my husband.
I don't understand why some Italians get so mad about food. 1. Italian food isn't even the best cuisine (sorry that goes to the Asian cuisines imo xD) . 2. Food can be experimented with, it's how you can end up with amazing new flavours. 3. if you're not cooking it yourself, shut the f**k up
Aside from the other issues with your comment, who said these people were Italian...I'm American and I freaking love pasta. Only Italians can eat pasta now? Lol

I need to stop reading these kind of posts. If I wanted to get angry I would still use Facebook.
Long story short. Our infant dies. My husband is openly expressing his want for his father to help dig the grave (family plot on a mountain here in tn usa) his dad goes about telling him how he has to fix his heater core in his truck. My dad is in Florida and can't make it till the day of the burriel or he would of been there. My husband is devastated. My mil shows up to help him dig the grave. While I'm attending to organizing all the damn flowers and songs and family cause it's my baby I just birthed that died. My dad comes up on the day of the burial and esentually it's me and my husband and my dad covering up the grave. His dad won't even look at him. Two days later my husband quits working with him cause my husband has been clean and sober for 6 years and he is screaming at him on the work site infront of the home owner how he shouldn't go back to being a needle junkie. I lost my s**t. We don't talk to them anymore.
My partner's father was absent for the majority of his life. I didn't even meet him for the first 8 years of us dating. A couple of years ago he was made redundant from his job and received hundreds of thousands of $$$ as a payout. He wasted it all in a matter of months gambling. This year my partner's sister had a baby and the father wanted to come to visit for Christmas to see the baby (the father moved to another state after he left my partner's mother 31 years ago). My partner being a nice person offered for him to stay with us since he now has no money to pay for a hotel. The entire time he was here he did not clean up after himself, would leave dirty dishes on the counter and did not contribute towards any food in the house. He ate everything in our fridge and pantry including several boxes of chocolate my partner received as Christmas presents from his students. And then proceeded to try con my partner into buying him weed. I hope he never comes back.
This triggered me so much after this last week. My parents took us on vacation and my brother’s family didn’t intend on spending any money. I had already paid for excursions for my family. My parents wanted my nieces to do an excursion so they paid for one for my brothers family after having said that was on us to pay for any extras beyond the flight and resort. My bf and I got sick and couldn’t go on an excursion with my son. I asked them to take him and they said yes, but backed out bc my brother was supposed to go on an excursion with my dad (my dad paid for). Then they canceled it and instead of taking my son, they rented a cabana and babysat my nieces all day. Then they didn’t even care to say goodbye to us before we left for the airport. I see how me and my family rate compared to my brother and his.
I made it about halfway through this and go so pissed it stopped. Maybe BP can have a separate site for negative asshole posts. No one needs to read this s**t.

Sat down and told my sister to 'get off her ass and get them a drink'. Wish I had been there for her " You have two legs and a f*****g pulse. Get it yourself." reply.
that one about the sister supposedly not paying after they took the kids to the zoo? Absolutely fake. That happened in the UK between a babysitter and the family that hired her.
Yeah and the babysitter's sister is the one who posted it.
