30 Celebs And Other Twitter Users React To Elon Musk Taking Over Twitter, With Some Of Them Deciding To Leave The Platform
October 27th of this year was the day when Elon Musk finally closed the deal and became the owner of the social network company Twitter. The 51-year-old businessman who is the CEO of the companies SpaceX and Tesla spent $44 billion on the site, after taking some time to try to get out of the deal. It was revealed that this matter had to be settled in trial after Twitter sued him for breaching the deal, but none of this was needed as the now “Chief Twit” agreed to go ahead with the plan and buy the company. Once Musk became the owner of the site, he didn’t waste any time and already implemented some novelties that sparked a discussion among Twitter users.

One of the first things implemented by Musk that many users online noticed was the change in Twitter’s homepage. The “old” Twitter homepage would request those who are logged out or not signed in to do so to be able to see any content. The new change allows people who are not Twitter users to see news and posts without being logged in or having to set up an account. Even though there was no clear explanation as to why the business owner decided to do it, it was clear that things are going to change at a fast pace with the new person behind the wheel.
A few more changes were also made when Twitter’s “Super Follows” subscription, which allows users to access additional paid content, was changed to “Subscriptions”. The man also revealed plans to use his SpaceX resources to make Twitter available to areas where it’s not yet accessible.

Excuse me, can I speak to the manager please? Hello manager, you're fired. Get the Hell out of here
Written on a plattform that has several doxxing posts, death threats towards "unpopular" persons and calls for violence. Oh I forgot, those things are only bad if it comes from the "wrong" side... (Not taking sides here, just pointing out the hypocrisy)
Musk also made some staff-related changes. It was reported that he fired Parag Agrawal, who was Twitter’s CEO from November 2021 until October of this year. The new CEO of the company became Matt Wallace, a cryptocurrency expert who broke the news on his Twitter account, stating that he “will work hard to protect free speech and integrate #Dogecoin!”.
I just blocked Musk on twitter. It was instant gratification. It would be a riot if everyone on twitter just blocked him.
The news of Musk becoming the owner of Twitter was met with different opinions. The business mogul shared that “the bird is freed”, suggesting that now people will have the right to express their opinions freely and won’t be suspended for it. While this might seem like a good thing, this view made a lot of users online, among whom are well-known names, concerned about the hate speech and false information that will be circling around once users with rather conservative and extremist viewpoints will join Twitter or regain access to their accounts.
For a person who names a child like an absolete model of a Star Wars robot, I don’t think there is such a thing as reputation risk. The only reputation at risk is the one of those around him.
People—-and I hope advertisers—-will leave Twitter in droves. It will either crash and burn or become the new 4chan for right wing extremists. Either way, the FBI should keep an eye on it for domestic terror plots, all condoned by Musk.
After finding out that Musk took over Twitter, some people decided to leave the site for good, revealing that they don’t believe allowing people to spread hatred and calling it free speech is going to work. These opinions were outweighed by those who were happy to see a change in the way Twitter is going to be operated from now. What is your opinion on this situation? Don’t forget to leave your thoughts in the comments down below!
Leave Twitter. It goes underr financially. Elon suffers. Win! (Note: never went on Twitter in my life, BP is the onlly time I see these things.)
The bird is about to lay an egg out of stress. Elon would name the little birdie 1Y 0-lk + e2G WHy t
He’s trying not to laugh too, thinking about what he put in that burger.
Facebook is s**t too, Ive only EVER been banned because I called some racist White trash or said Stupid white people and As a White man its my right to talk s**t about my fellow whites. And every single time Facebook protected racists comments on news posts because "hurt feelings" You Literally cant be racist towards white people and thats what Facebook is trying to say.
My god do conservatives do anything but whine and cry?
Load More Replies...At this point anything would be a better place than Twitter probably.
Load More Replies...Firing the CEO as a first move is not the best sign. He's clearly wanting to make big changes that probably won't be the best. Then again, who knows.
LOL, this isn't even accurate.... the charge for a blue check will be around $8. And heaven forbid that there be a system to make sure people are really who they say they are....
Left last year. I realized people don't care what anyone else thinks anyway.
Everything you post everywhere including all your SMS, emails, voice calls, zoom calls, etc, all belong to the government. I'm not really concerned about my tweets being accessible to someone that spent millions to put a Tesla in orbit, sells flamethrowers, and now has a cologne called b******e!
Funny how most of the "celebs" tweeting in this article no one has even heard of!
I thought it's only me lol Maybe because I don't use Twitter

Completely Agree with what you are saying. At the same time, I have learnt a lot of new perspectives and arguments from twitter, especially on issues from outside my country. There is always some smart cookie sharing a new insight on something I needed to know:) i hope that bit doesnt change.
Load More Replies...Musk posted one of the insane conspiracy theories about the attack on Paul Pelosi and then quickly removed it. Anyone who thinks it's no big deal that he's bought it is dreaming. Of course, firing 4000 workers is going to make it harder to run that he imagined.
I love how conservatives pretend to care about free speech when the only thing they really care about is being able to say as many hateful, sickening things as they want without any consequences and without anyone calling them out. They would gladly shut down any and all opinions of liberals, and regularly do so. The use of the n-word already increased over 500% since Musk took over, proving the point that they simply want to be loud and proud racists, misogynists, and bigots.
I put this down a few times already on this post but I'll say it again. Any platform that is at the mercy of advertisers and share holders will always be subject to censorship. Free speech on social media is an illusion.
Load More Replies...Elon Musk owning Twitter... I think that's going to end up in even more hate and misery it was in before.... There's freedom of speech and then there is what's it going to become. Left it a long time ago because of all the stress I felt then, and I'm sure that was paradise compared to what it'll look like soon...
That's assuming it survives his purge of 4000 employees. Like a lot of ignorant rich people, he's forgotten that businesses don't run without people to work in them. No doubt he imagines he can just snap up new workers off the streets.
Load More Replies...the small chance that i would ever join twitter is leaving with elon musk’s dignity and hair
This is...not good. Elon clearly has huge plans to change Twitter and it's very concerning to me. It'll probably just become even more of a dumpster fire than it is normally.
Twitter has been losing users because it's full of wankers like Elon Musk. Not sure how him owning the platform is gonna fix that
And losing advertisers. Which is, of course, how Twitter makes money. On top of which, buying Twitter was an over-valued acquisition to begin with. Whatever else happens, Musk is going to lose money. A lot of it.

Fortunately, Musk is not eligible to run for President, since he was not born in America.

I'm keeping my twitter account active for now because, if I'm being completely honest, it's fun to watch the current drama unfold.
I am pessimistic that this will turn out well but one can hope. I strongly support free speech but I also support strong AI/human combined moderation to catch hate speech and those proposing violence. Someone posts a tweet telling people to ignore the election results and fight for their rights. The same post with the same words could come from President Trump about the 2020 election or President Zelenskyy talking to the people of Mariupol about the Russian sham election. We need an algorithm that flags that post but brings it to the attention of a moderator instead of blocking it and a human moderator who allows Zelenskyy's to go out but blocks and deletes Trumps.
Maybe it should go down. Maybe not everyone deserves to have their every thought heard. Maybe just maybe if we can all stay quiet now often it'll get better. I have no problem seeing it crash and burn.
So now I can register as @theOneAndOnlyRealElonMusk and can buy a blue check?
Well twitter has been hemorrhaging money for the last 8 years and with this acquisition musk added about 13 billion to the debt, skyrocketing the company's interest expenses from 50 million to 1 billion per year. Per NY Times musk plans to catch up financially by firing about half of the employees. Getting rid of employees in sales and marketing in an effort to cut costs likely means losing relationships with current advertisers that will be hard to replace. Since twitter makes about 90% of its revenue from advertising, that's an incredibly risky move. He is also likely to make cuts from R/D as well but somehow also wants to hire expensive engineers to replace cut employees. If the nose dive that Tesla stock has had can be used as an indicator of how twitter will be performing under musk, I think it's not far fetched that the only place it's headed is to it's grave. I am in no way a financial analyst so these are just my super not an expert observations based on what I've read recently
I don't have twitter, never had, never will. Can't see what the fuss is about - re twitter not musk
Why don’t you Run along and try to overthrow the government because daddy trump keeps losing elections?
