Woman Adopts Earless And Deaf Senior Cat Everybody Ignored, And Later He Saves Her

When grad student Molly Lichtenwalner who suffers from anxiety disorder saw Otitis, the earless white cat, she immediately understood they were meant for each other. Otitis, whose former owners surrendered him after the cysts in his ears and the removal of his hearing organs made him deaf, couln’t have asked for a better owner – Molly used to have a deaf pup, and has her own ways when dealing with pets with special needs. She showered the poor thing with love – and the feline gave all that goodness back in return – and more…

“I was having severe anxiety as a result of a car accident… I decided it was time for me to adopt an animal to help with my anxiety, because nothing helped me more than snuggling some furry friends,” Molly told Love Meow. Otitis turned out to be the best emotional support cat Molly could have hoped for. The feline feels so grateful for being rescued, he wants to give Molly snuggles all the time!

Otitis knows how to help her when she’s really stressed or having a panic attack. “He is some times the only thing that can calm me down… He’s the best thing I ever did and he definitely rescued me, I didn’t rescue him.”

“Living with him is an absolute dream! He is the most loving, snuggly cat and he makes me feel so loved,” Molly told Bored Panda.

I always wonder why people just surrender their pet when it becomes a special-needs pet. I mean... Do you give up your partner/child/parents/.. when they have an accident/disease and they have special needs? Good thing there are wonderful people like Molly here. Thanks for adopting this beautiful cat.

Goes to show what's on the inside means more than anything. Otitis is really beautiful, and needs love just like the rest of us. And he gives so much back <3 Thanks for his rescue, Molly <3

Sometimes when someone owns a pet for a long time and then gives it up it can die from depression... people should be more considerate

It's not the prettiest cat I've seen... but he seems friendly and kind! And how can I judge - I have a white cat too, deaf too (still got the ears though!) whose got skin problems and has hideous red patches all around the eyes... He also has got no teeth left due to an infection. He looks awful but he's the nicest cat ever, he trusts people and he's so caring with the younger cats we have, I wouldn't dream of a life without his funny little face by my side.

What is so great about this story is that Molly saw Otitis as something no one else did: A living thing, with a soul and emotions. What is so depressing about the world is that people want cats for how they look, not how they act. May those who saves animals like these be blessed.

That's so sweet! I do think it's weird that the story never mentions that his name (Otitis, not Otis) means "inflammation of the ears" lol His former owners named him that? Or she did? Either way, seems like it's part of the story.
