Interview With ExpertThe time has come when we can order anything online, and it will be delivered to our doorstep. Life has become more convenient; we can even order food and groceries whenever we want. Since it saves time, many people opt for deliveries, but some don’t always get what they want.
A man recently ordered food, but what he found in the delivery box disturbed him, and he couldn’t wait to share it with people online. This might be one of those delivery horror stories that nobody wants to experience, especially when hungry.

Unfortunately for us, we’re surrounded by jerks, and we’ll all come across them at some point in our lives. They might be bosses, roommates, or old friends, but in some cases, they might even be delivery guys. There are many delivery drivers who are doing their very best to bring our food and parcels to us on time, but a handful of them are hell-bent on messing things up. If you’re unlucky, you might face the brunt of their actions.
In this case, the poor customer opened up his order to find that his chicken wings were swiped clean, his fries were eaten, and only his drink seemed intact. Although a few commenters pointed out that the drink seemed to have normal ice cubes in it, so maybe it was tampered with too. The interesting part is that the DoorDash driver decided to leave him an odd note explaining the reasoning behind his crass actions.
A survey by Circuit Route Planner of over 500 delivery drivers found that nearly 80% of them had eaten some food from a customer’s order. If that doesn’t make you rethink ordering food, then maybe this will. 17% of the delivery people admitted to opening and then resealing packages. This means that if you’ve ordered any kind of parcel, there is a small chance that the person delivering it might have already taken a peek before you could.
The survey also noted another side to the delivery experience that customers probably never considered. Around 69% of the delivery drivers mentioned that customers would accuse them of theft or blame them for lost packages when they weren’t at fault. They have also had many strange deliveries and met even stranger customers on the other side of the door.
Bored Panda interviewed Prince, who creates videos to educate delivery drivers on his channel Technic Shreemanji. Prince shared a few difficult experiences during his time as a delivery guy, such as: “Drivers often work in various weather conditions, which can be uncomfortable or even hazardous, especially during extreme weather events. Delivery drivers may encounter unsafe neighborhoods or situations, increasing the risk of theft or violence. Some delivery drivers work long hours to meet demand, leading to fatigue and potential burnout. The wear and tear on the vehicle used for deliveries can be significant, leading to costly maintenance and repair expenses.”

As the DoorDash guy mentioned in his note, he felt the need to resort to these actions because he was hungry and broke. He also was close to quitting the job. Many delivery partners have similar experiences that add to the tough nature of their work. With their long working hours and tiring interactions with customers, many face a lot of stress.
Drivers experience financial stress, problems at home, and difficulties balancing work and life, which are all factors that can impact their mental health. It’s no wonder, then, that some drivers act this way out of desperation. Although the DoorDash driver’s actions weren’t justified, there might be a bit of truth to what he mentioned in the note.
Besides stressful conditions, delivery partners may also face unsafe situations at work. A Pew Research Center poll found that 35% of people doing online gigs have felt unsafe while doing those jobs. The Bureau of Labor Statistics found that ride-hailing and delivery are among the deadliest occupations, not just because of injuries and death from accidents but also due to assaults while working.
Delivery drivers have to face their fair share of hassles on the job. But that also doesn’t mean they can transfer the pain to the customer. This video received 136.4k likes and over 2k comments with many people shocked at the DoorDash driver’s actions. Some people even shared their delivery horror stories. Netizens could not believe the audacity of the DoorDash driver and urged the poster to file a complaint
Broke and hungry sounds like they need to keep their job until they find another one. I once accidentally ordered food to the wrong address (which was a hotel I was staying at) when the guy called I was like well it sucks for me but I hope you're hungry!...At least I made the drivers night.
How do we know this is real? Door dash driver stole my food once. He didn't bother with a note and a delivery. He just canceled the order AFTER he'd picked up the food. I called Door Dash and they said he'd had a "family emergency." Umm. I think not. Dude was hungry. Why would this driver even bother with the rest of the delivery?
To my knowledge Door Dash does not operate on the UK however I will admit I use Just Eat and Delieveroo. I have had a number of instances where items were missing. And one incident where the young delivery driver tried to give me a sob story of that he was a student and he came from a poor country and anything I could spare would be appreciated. I was shocked that he would have the nerve to do such a thing. And then I wondered how many times in that night that speech had been said to his deliverues
Well, it's cute, all around. I like your reactions, OP. Once again, the Universe has randomly bitten you on the butt - and mostly you're laughing. GOOD FOR YOU !! :-) The damn Universe DOES this, to all of us- whenever it wants Being able to laugh it off, once in a while, is healthy.
The OP is not on here...... BP copies most of their articles from different places.
Load More Replies...At least the driver actually showed up with the bag. The last and final time I used DoorDash, the driver put my Wingstop order on some curb by a lamp post in some part of the city I work in and sent me a picture of it being delivered. Best believe I called DoorDash to tell them to fire her a*s and bring me another order with a different driver.
Just ask for your money back, Karen. It's gross to get people fired in this economy.
