Why is it, that while I understand perfectly how bad fried food is, I will ALWAYS find a reason to get at that lukewarm batch of fried chicken from the gas station? After devouring the coma inducing “snack” I sit back and wonder why the hell I would do this to myself. I should know better.

It turns out that I do know better, it’s just that the primitive parts of my mind are much, much stronger than the reasoning parts of my mind. We might think of reason as the errand boy for our urges. With enough pressure from our primitive brain, the errand boy will give in and find any reason to make the primitive brain happy.

I know people are gonna hate me for this but I'm tired of these 'unique' comics that talk about 'omg haha I'm a girl periods suck' or 'haha so relatable I fail my diet' or 'I love dogs my dog is so funny lmao'. I don't hate on the artists, but I'm tired of seeing these comics with honestly mediocre drawings about something that had been done 100000 times before featured all the time on bored panda.

I noticed that, instead of giving up sweets for good, it's much more effective to try and control yourself about the quantities + research about affordable healthy(-ish) replacements (without completely giving up the unhealthy stuff, but rather combining the two). The first is to lessen the cravings, the latter is to help you with self control.

@Daria B Yes. I had better luck losing weight with a replacement method too. If I really, really want a donut, I'm probably going to eat the donut. BUT I'm less likely to eat the donut (or more than one) if I have some dried figs and pecans in my purse to munch on instead.

While reading this I am sitting here eating cake frosting out of the little tub with a spoon.

Goddamn it, I'm literally reading this while on a break to eat junk food after b******t rationalizations like this (for both the food and the break itself). I'm exquisitely pathetic, haha.

Instinct is the Id, I guess rationality is the ego? Where's the superego?

I love them, but sadly, aging made me give up on them for good, for my guts can no longer digest deep fried food without making me feel seriously sick and suffer subsequential health bugs.
