Mailman Who Used To Give Treats To Dogs On His Route Receives A Note That One Of The Dogs Has Passed Away
Some dogs like to chase or bark at the mailman, but for the dogs on this mail carrier’s route a new delivery meant a special treat. Recently a Twitter user shared that her dad would always carry special gifts for the four-legged customers on his route. He was not only appreciated by his canine friends but by their owners too. One day during his route, however, he received a heart-wrenching note from one of his regulars with some sad news, their dog had passed away. While normally this would be cause for tears, the former dog owners decided to pay it forward in honor of their pet and the story is truly wholesome.
This Twitter user just went viral for sharing the most wholesome story about her mailman dad

The note read: “Gretchen passed away yesterday. She asked me to ask you if you would share her treats that she never got to finish with the other dogs on your route. She always enjoyed seeing you come to the door and was always happy to get a snack from you. Thank you, The Cimino Family.”
People loved the heartwarming story and there wasn’t a dry eye in the comments

Share on FacebookI had a cat who loved the mailman. Not really food-motivated, but anything for scritches!
I was a mail man for a year and a half. Worst one ever. But I took care of the dogs. One Husky chained to a porch never, ever had water. I filled his bowl every day. And I cleaned his nasty ears with my fingers. And wiped 'em off on the mail. (I said I was the worst.) Every dog that didn't charge at me got petted. The ones that did charge me never were harmed. Not once. I put the bag between us, finger on the (worthless, I've heard) spray and locked eyes and talked as I backed away safely. Honestly did not give a tinker's damn about the job, though.
Why is it that some people get dogs only to neglect and mistreat them? I’ve never understood that. Well done you for looking out for these poor pups.
Load More Replies...I'm a postie and quite often have dog treats in my pocket. I've made several furry friends using bribes.
That was lovely. My old dog went deaf and we couldn't let him out for his walks any longer. A note in my mailbox solved the problem. His walking buddies missed him and their owners felt terrible walking by him locked behind the fence and asked me if they could take him with them every morning for a walk. True to their word, every morning at 6am I would hear the gate open and out he went. He finally passed away a year later but what a life he led that he had touched the people in my area to treat him with such kindness.
Not crying, honest! It's dust or hay-fever or something..... RIP Gretchen.
Incorrect title for this article, "Mailman Who Used To Give Treats..." should be "Mailman who gives treats..." because clearly the dear fellow still does and has made an impact with his furry buddies and their human families
Anybody else notice her phones at one percent? No, just me? Okay no but seriously this is sad☹️
Omg this is sad ;( (Btw that guy is living on the edge with his 1% battery charge)
So nice that many delivery drivers enjoy meeting the dogs on their route, and some give treats, very thoughtful !!!
You know you're going to cry from the title. And then you do just that. My heart hurts and is full of joy at the same time.
What a lovely gesture from the poor dogs' owners even though it did reduce me to tears !! !!!
Thank you for sharing this beautiful story. Our fur babies are such a huge part of our families and when they are no longer with us, we want to do nice things to keep their memories alive. Tears streaming down my face
Everything's understandable, but can you please plug your phone before it hits 1% ? Thank you.
Awwww :'( Onions . Our mail-lady retired and it took my two forever to understand that the young man who replaced her did NOT have treats and did NOT appreciate their noses in his window. :'( :'(
