A Police Officer Found A Puppy Overdosed On Heroin And Left Alone In A Car
When police officers were called to arrest two men switching price tags in a store in Texas, they decided to check the suspects’ car as well – and that’s when they found a little puppy named Lucky who had overdosed on heroin. They immediately rushed the doggie to the vet’s. “He was extremely lethargic — almost comatose — and was basically limp,” Jolene DeVito, police media specialist with the Carrollton Police Department, told The Dodo.
The staff members at the North Texas Emergency Pet Clinic knew they had to act fast if the pooch was to survive. Luckily, the vets at the clinic knew how to handle this medical crisis, as they get dogs overdosed on drugs at least once a shift.
“We administered a dose of a medication called Narcan that is a reversal for opioid overdose,” Dr. Stacie Fowler of the North Texas Emergency Pet Clinic told The Dodo. “After about 24 hours, Lucky had returned to normal.”
Then it was time to find Lucky a loving forever home, so they organized a lottery. Among the participants was a little girl with her grandparents, and she and Lucky bonded immediately. Seeing this, the man who actually won the lottery drawing gave the lucky ticket to the girl.

Share on FacebookIt says they get "dogs overdosed on drugs at least once a shift" . What is wrong with people??
I thought that was strange, but I think it means dogs getting a hold of pills or people not giving them their medication correctly, not narcotics.
Load More Replies...That man is so sweet, giving the dog to that girl. I love when someone sees a forever home for a dog he/she wants and lets the dog go live that life, it's so kind. People need to think about others more often in this way. That sad, Lucky is extremely cute 😍
This is so sweet the man who gave up their ticket for this little girl is a doll😊❤️💛💚💙💜
I would be so happy to say I was surprised and shocked. But sadly, I am not. I have read so many stories about cruelty and madmen that I can't be surprised. Doesn't stop me from being angry though. I want to punch every idiot who does this until they hang on to life by a thin thread

I love that the ticket winner gave it to the little girl whom the dog chose ❤️
Oms really, what is wrong with people. The of stupidity and cruelty coming out these days never ceases
Can anyone tell me what sort this Dog is, I have a very similar dog, just a bit bigger.
Oh gawd! I'm in tears! That poor animal! I swear, man is the most cruel and vile creature on this planet. That poor dog.
I'd love to adopt cotton. I lost my Annabelle months ago and desperately want another kitty. I have a papillion puppy, another pap whose 12, and we all have an empty feeling without a kitty to love. What do I do to apply to have Cotton here with us on the cape. I'm paralyzed from the bra line down since 1973. My animals are my life. I'll always have room for an abandoned or abused animal, hopefully kitties.
I know I am going to get a lot of hate for this, but I can't believe they raffled off a DOG. A LIVING CREATURE who has been OVERDOSED ON HEROIN.They should have given him to a shelter where people could adopt him normally (papers, background checks, etc.). He's very (no pun intended) lucky for ending up with that loving little girl. I just think that they shouldn't have raffled off a dog who has a very rough past. Or any dog, for that matter. Or any living thing in general. Period.
While it is possible that some pets do get their owners drugs, more often than not it is given to the animal by the owner to see what happens. Have seen lots and lots of very sick dogs and cats who were given marijuana, cocaine, and heroin. Now we are seeing the Fentenayl overdoses in pets, deliberately given to them by humans.
There is a special place in Hell for those that gain sick pleasure from cruelty to innocent animals. I'm glad the cute puppy pulled through.
What is wrong with these people?! Thank goodness he is doing fine now and finally has a loving and good home.
Who the hell are you talking about? The Grandparents?
