Woman Tells Her Sister NOT To Have A Puppy When She Has A Baby, But She Doesn’t Listen
Back in 2007, one Imgur user told her sister NOT to get a puppy when she had a baby. What she didn’t know then was that the doggie and her niece would become BFFs…
Since the day the girl was born, the black Lab was always by her side. Occasionally, the doggie would eat the baby’s cookies , but other than that, their friendship was clearly budding.
As the girl grew a bit older, the two established a Sunday tradition to watch morning cartoons together. Whatever they were doing – sitting in a car, playing, or just chilling on the couch – they were inseparable. The adorable duo even walked to school together! “They’re pretty much the bestest friends ever and I’m eating my words.”
Years had passed, and as the girl grew, the doggie started to show clear signs of aging, such as getting a grey ‘beard’. Still, he was loved unconditionally. I mean, how can you not love a dog who agrees to dress as a princess just to please his friend?
This year, after 10 years of being together, the aging canine got some benign tumors removed – and while he’s laying there weak and recovering, the girl doesn’t leave his side. If this isn’t friendship, we don’t know what is.

Share on FacebookWe just lost our precious doggo, she passed away in her sleep. She looked just like this one so I'm crying again.
My dog passed 19 years ago, and I got him when I was 5. He also looked just like this dog. All these years later, and I still tear up thinking about him. I'm so sorry for your loss.
Load More Replies...People should understand how important it is for kids to have pets around to teach them compassion, how to care for living creatures and overall because furry friends never let you down. Of course this only applies to responsible parents who don't see pets as a Christmas/birthday present that will end up in a shelter after leaving a puddle on the carpet or when the family wants to go on holidays. But people like that shouldn't have kids either, IMHO. I grew up with cats and dogs (they've already been there before I was born) and would never want to miss all the wonderful and sad moments I experienced with them <3
Shut up, Lara Ross. You're ruining the beautiful comments.
Load More Replies...Super cute, but the sister wasn't wrong to give this advise. Many people have had issues with with babies and dogs. The dogs often get neglected or given away because babies need so much time and care. Glad she was able to balance both.
Agreed. Her sister was absolutely right and although I'm glad this story had a happy ending, many pets actually lose their home when a baby comes into play. A newborn is more work than anyone (with no experience in this domain) can imagine, and a new pet is extra work. I don't think it's wise to take those two challenges at the same time. If you wait even just a year or two, your child will be able to build the same close relationship... and she might even make more memories (since unfortunately dogs will leave you after 12-15 years, and most children won't remember much from before their 5th birthday...).
Load More Replies...Thanks for sharing my story! This was going to be the photo for the update, but then with the tumors, they had taken the sweet picture of her not leaving Bentley's side. It was a beautiful, bittersweet moment. 2017-01-15...124f81.jpg
Are they your girl and dog??? Tell us how are they!

I'm gonna cry. When I was 7 my mom got me a dog, she was with us for 15 years. When she passed away was just like losing a family member (because she was one) <3
This is so beautiful. Unconditional love in its purest form. To see a child give and receive love this way is a parent's greatest reward.
Amazing story. That's what true friendship is <3 I also grue up with dog, he passed away couple of month ago and this story drove me to tears
Very cute! But from the last picture, I'd say that's a she dog, not a he!
Those are actually his stitches from having the multiple tumors removed. :(

She is gonna be so sad when he passes away, as will I. How do you tell a child her best friend died?
Clearly this is a loving family and the girl being properly raised is well adjusted. With the slowly gathering age sshe is being eased into the realities of life and death. This is a fortunate child

Goldens are such gentle, beautiful souls. I'm sorry for your loss.

OH MY GOSH!!! I CANNOT HANDLE THE DOG WINKING IN THE FIRST PICTURE!!!!!! AWWWWWWW!!!! This was one of the cutest things I've read all day :)
Aww has the dog died yet? This is the sweetest relationship ever.
The litle girl will need a training for the death of her prefferred dog. Life is like this and strong attachments have to get cut off. Keeeping precious the souvenirs - will always be there
Actually, my parents got their first dog - a very lively young Setter puppy - some five months before I was born. I do not know how they managed, but they loved him very much. He was very protective of me when I was a baby and toddler; though he insisted on distance between us as I grew older. My parents adored him and he lived until he was about 14...
This melts my heart. My dog just passed of old age last year. He was 14. My other dog passed away almost ten years at 12. Dog are amazing.
Throughout my 71 years there have been many times when my best friends were and still are my dogs. They are so faithful with their love and understanding with my life of constant pain. (Lupus & Fibromyalgia)
Very nice to see. But starting out is a lot of poop in a lot of difference directions.
The parents should not allow the child to sit on the dog or dress it in clothing. Have some respect for your 'best friend'.

What a beautiful story of unconditional love between the two. How blessed were they to have been given this beautiful gift?
the love and bond of a dog is beyond comprehension they are so loyal and would give their life for us I had a boy in a wheel chair one of my shephereds was always by his side wherever he was heaven help anyone who tried to touch him
Such a wonderful story of love between a girl and her doggy. I loved it!
I love that she got to experience that level of friendship so young, but I'm also afraid for how badly her heart will be broken...
Most people can't (and shouldn't) raise a dog like this. But when you can love a pet as if it's a person, you get something pretty special in return. My family adopted our first dog when I was 4 years old. She watched over me so well! She died when I was 16 :'( It was so heartbreaking. Not long after
We adopted Cindy Lou. She's 13 yrs old now. She can't hear a thing but it's the most precious and loving animal I know. She still lives with my parents. I have my own pup that a year and a half. He kept me out of a pretty deep depression after a divorce. All my dogs are rescue dogs. They are the best. I LOVE coming together with fellow dog lovers!!!! <3
