Does high school in general matter? Hello there, I am a struggling high school student. I'm not struggling academically, in fact I have straight A's. More of a stress and anxiety struggle. I'm taking two college credit giving classes, but I'm not sure if it really matters. There's no way I'm going into terrible debt for an I y League college, but something more along the lines of state college or maybe a little better. I have no idea what I want to do in life yet.

I love "me time* and drawing, crafting, crocheting, etc. I also do theater (time consuming!).

Is taking more than 2 AP classes worth it in the end? For all of the stress and anxiety it gives, do colleges even care?

My final question and reason I made this post-- should I drop the extra AP class this year and enjoy high school extracurriculars?

Ps... do colleges care about anything other than sports?

If it’s terribly affecting your mental health, drop it, but personally I’d stay in them.

I took 4 AP classes and 5 paid college credit classes and was able to graduate a year early. I went to a local school and graduating a year early would’ve saved me around $40,000, even with my scholarships (I decided to only graduate one semester early).

I’d also look into what classes you are taking and how the schools you’re thinking of applying to take those credits. A lot of my AP classes ended up only applying towards general electives. Those electives are typically pretty easy to take in college, so if you’d rather spend more time on extracurriculars now, that’d be perfectly fine. Despite my straight As, I wasn’t able to get into some of my state schools because I didn’t have any extracurriculars, so it’s definitely a balance between the two.
