Turns Out That Texans Had No Idea No One Else Eats Pickles At Movie Theaters And It’s Hilarious
Pretty much every person who likes to visit movie theatres enjoys the smell and taste of fresh, delicious popcorn coming from a concession stand. And while some people find the sound of someone eating popcorn during a movie a bit annoying, it’s probably nothing compared to the smell and the sound of someone crunching on a dill pickle next to you. Yes, you’ve read that, right! There are some movie theatres in Texas and Pittsburgh, where you can buy pickled cucumbers to binge on while you’re enjoying a movie. And while this movie snack seems a bit strange and unusual for most of us, Texans are surprised that eating pickled gherkins in movie theatres is not a thing everywhere. Seriously, they love pickles! Well, at least it’s a healthy snack and not some abomination in the lines of deep-fried butter. Don’t believe us? Scroll below to see these unique snacks in full color yourself!
Most of us associate movie theaters with the smell of delicious popcorn
But did you know that there are people who can’t help but think about pickles when they visit a movie theater?

It turns out even Pittsburgh is guilty of it!

The best part of it all – Texans had no idea how unusual it is!

Share on FacebookI'm from Texas. I live in Texas. While I like pickles, I've never heard of people eating popcorn and pickles together. Yuck. Does not mean it doesn't happen, just means not all of us do that. Yuck
A boy from Texas once told me that in Texas they always eat watermelon with salt, pepper, oil and vinegar. Is it true or hecwas joking?
Load More Replies...I would be deeply disturbed if someone put a pickle in my movie popcorn.
Sounds like something a pregnant woman might crave: pickles & popcorn... meh, to each his own...
That was by first thought too. Or pickles with chocolate (I just googled pickles with chocolate and looks like chocolate covered pickles are a thing :O I bet a pregnant woman came up with that)
Load More Replies...My favorite memories are buying a freezing cold pickle at the pool in July. I'm from Kansas.
Crazy. I had no idea pickles in a movie theater is a thing anywhere. But to each their own I guess *shrug*. It's interesting but not really a big deal.
But now I'm wondering what other sorts of snacks that some places do but not others. Just curious.

I don't remember getting a pickle just to go with the popcorn, I just like pickles and they always sold the huge Best Maid ones at sporting events and the theater when I was growing up. I've even had a pickle that they'd put in a jalapeño jar after all the jalapeños were gone, was amazing and hot as all get out.
I thought this was normal as well, and I live in Utah! I mean, I've never eaten a movie theater pickle, and I no intention of doing so, but I seriously thought they were a well known movie theater snack everywhere else!
I can still remember the shock of an American aquaintance here in Germany when they started to sell ice cream and sweet popcorn at the theatre. She only knew the salty kind and had never had ice cream during a movie.
That being said I absolutely like the idea of pickles at the theatre!
Load More Replies...Never ever heard of pickles being sold in theaters. And I live down South. Never checked the menu board though. Gonna now. But...pickle juice?? Ugh!
Raised in TX now in MN and our movie theatre sells pickles...so yeah
I am still trying to figure out who the hell came up with the idea of in pickles at the movies. And with popcorn?????
What?!?!? Pickles at a movie theather?? Just give me popcorn and candy and i'm good
I will now have to sneak pickles into my theater here in Connecticut. (Don't think all of ct is hoity toity richy rich. It's not a fancy theater. But I do enjoy salty snacks more than sweet. Kosher dill An popcorn w butter. I'm gonna have to do it. Heck everyone is eating chicken and waffles now anyways...
So, you're Eastern or Northeastern CT? Or just east of the river in general? I've been in Windham county, New London county and (THE HORROR!) Fairfield county, never to return to "Stepford"!
Load More Replies...I think that's a southern thing. I live in NH and I've never heard of that. It's strange up here. All we want is movie popcorn! Great, now I want popcorn....
I didn't even know people still went to movie theaters. Considering the patrons who talk during the movie, look at their cell phones, pick fights, kick the back of your seat, eat noisily, and generally make nuisances of themselves, I would prefer never to see another movie as long as I live then to ever set foot in a movie theater ever again. Have fun y'all!
There's a restaurant here that serve deep fried pickles. I could totally see that at the movie theatre.
I'm from Texas and me and my family moved to pa last year. I went to the movies and asked for a pickle and needless to say I watched my movie pickleless and sad.
I actually just finished watching a movie at home eating popcorn and a pickle. No idea why I was craving that combo, but hey I love both. Weird that I found this after finishing it.
I don't want a pickle, just wanna ride on my motorcycle. (Arlo Guthrie motorcycle song)
God damn it USA, Britain leaves you alone for a couple hundred years and you go eating pickles in cinemas.
Now I'm tempted to sneak pickles into the movie theatre. They don't have this in Indiana..
Sounds like eating pickles on the streets of old New York (push cart era) finally worked its way south west. Never heard of pickles in movie theaters. Pickle juice everywhere is not appealing. And with a Coke, movie drink of choice?
Yep that's weird but interesting (at least there are some vitamins in it!) But question to all the Americans here: is it normal at your theaters to get butter over your popcorn?
... would that not be normal? Our theaters here do layers of popcorn, drizzling butter inbetween layers.

I have misophonia and I think pickle eating in a theater would definitely throw me over the edge lol. Thank you cali for it not being a thing here lol.
No this is absolutely not a thing over here in UK, Can i just say how much cheaper the food is compared to the cinema prices here.
Dude what?! Also in the UK and no way is food cheap at the cinema. In most of the ones near me the food is more expensive than the tickets!!!
Load More Replies...Was never much of a pickle eater, but I haven't had one since my (then 5 year old) son barfed up the remains of good sized 5-6 inch dill he ate in a nice restaurant while we were waiting for our order to arrive. He was like a green fountain and didn't stop until after we made it to the men's room. We think the pickle was spoiled.
WTF!!! I'M DONE WITH THESE TEXANS AND ALL THE WEIRD PICKLE PLACES!!!!
I hate people that eat in the cinema. I pay money to watch a movie, not listen to people chewing loudly. Or doing a live commentary of the movie. Or getting blinded by phone screens because zombies need to check their messenger every 120 seconds. At least turn the damn brightness down. If you are hungry go to a little place called "restaurant".
