New App Creates Deepfakes Of Lip-Synced Pictures, And I Used It To Have A Laugh (13 Pics)
The conversation about deep-fakes has an ominous undertone these days. Everyone is almost certain that it can be used with evil intent. However, I don’t think this is the only possible intention with which it can be used.
Take, for example, the Wombo AI app that’s used to create lip-synced versions of photos. It’s not exactly perfect or as accurate as the “real thing,” but it’s still very intriguing and effective. It took little to no time before the internet caught up to this app and started creating some meme-tastic content on it, mostly involving popular figures singing ludicrous songs.

And that’s where I come into the picture. I created my own 13 versions of popular characters singing fun tunes that we all most likely know. I leave you to decide how it turned out, but to me, they offer a fresh new perspective on how we can perceive well-known characters and what they can do. The app “unfreezes” the picture from its usual perspective and adds a refreshing, life-like dynamic to it.

George Washington singing “Ding Dong Song” by Günther and the Sunshine Girls
Wombo is spectacularly impressive at recreating motions and movements in a static frame. It can make them unseemingly happen to a hilarious effect. The eternally sombre George Washington becomes funnily flirtatious, and Frida Kahlo, who we’re used to seeing mute, becomes a melancholic and expressive karaoke performer from Yakuza (the video game).

My background is in digital art since I started using Photoshop many years ago, and I’m a frequent contributor to Bored Panda. Recently, I became fascinated with AI technology and neural networks. To me, the fast-evolving AI technology seems very interesting because it seemingly has no boundaries when it comes to what it may be capable of creating. And today’s post is just one of the brilliant examples. I hope to find more AI-related stuff in the future and share it with you, my dear Bored Panda readers.
