Here's what the artist had to say to Bored Panda about the project: "I started this project 2 years ago, I just wanted to create a page with a different view. When I saw the Instagram grid, I had the idea of an apartment. After that, I decided it would be good to let the most famous memes live in it."

"The balcony is a stock photo. I searched really long to find the perfect one which fits in the Instagram grid. The entrance of the building is also a stock photo. Now and then I'm going to build it up with more floors. It’s a fun thing to do. A nice distraction next to my ‘normal’ work. I already get tips in my DMs for new memes who can live in the apartment."

The artist also told about his professional and academic background: "I did graphic design school in Rotterdam, Netherlands and after that, I worked at some adverting agencies. In 2012, I start working for myself. I’m an advertising freelancer. About 80% of my work is social media posts/campaigns for (big) companies. As a hobby, I make funny Photoshopped jokes on my personal social pages."

He also shared his history with Photoshop, which is surprisingly long. "When I was in graphic design school, we had lessons for an hour a week with a Photoshop version that had no layers. So that’s way back! My first job was in 1998. I made small ads for the Dutch ‘Yellow page’ book, so that’s the first time I started using it professionally."

He also shared which recent memes he liked the most, and as for many, it was Bernie. "There are so many. It’s hard to point out one favorite. There are two (from the last 2 years I think) coming up which made me laugh real hard. Bernie may not be really a meme, but the execution of this animation is so good."
