Every job has its pros and cons, and while society is well introduced to most positions, the daily lives of some still remain a mystery to the general public. For example, take designers. These nocturnal beings, hiding over the screens of computers, are certainly one of the more exotic creatures of whom we know very little. To shed some light on these individuals, an artist known as Cauliflower Time has undertaken a 100-day challenge where she hilariously illustrates the struggles designers go through.
According to DesignTAXI, she sketches rough ideas on sticky notes when inspiration strikes, and then copies them over to Adobe Sketch on her iPad Pro. "Most of my ideas stem from the silly and often outrageous things that I hear daily, which I then translate into comic form." From questionable office politics to the creative process review, these situations are without a doubt gear-grindingly annoying. They never say that when you come early, - Hey you are early today, everything ok?
Sadly true! We are working in jails, hands tied to our keyboards and legs tied to office chairs!
NO MORE FREE LABOR!!! Everyone needs to stop volunteering and doing unpaid internships. Young, talented people (with college debt) are being devalued. It's got to stop.
This is actually far better than trying to be psychic on what's wanted. What's far worse is a client who doesn't know what they want, but knows what they don't want when you show it to them - namely your first several concepts.
My dad’s an executive creative director. The second, third, and fourth I know are not true for him. I am not sure about the first, though.
Yes, because having the build of a Barbie doll due to lots of photoshop and starving yourself is "general population".
I had to do some materials for an airport conference not long after 9/11. A conference attended by those in the industry. Number one requirement on the brief was not to show any images of aircraft as it might be considered insensitive.
so true. heads always take weeks to come down on ideas and then look you with "why ain't this done" eyes after handing it to you an hour ago.
I'd be like, "LOL! Be happy for the number of 'people who actually tolerate our constant advertising c**p that never gets us anywhere' we have currently! Let me know when you want me to get rid of our advertising." ;)
Like every luxe brand who now does perfume, luggage, watches, pen,...
Often is worse, we see that with politics here, they feel like they are minister, so they NEED to do sth and change, and it often end in bad stuff but that way they can say "I have made that education reform!"
this one reminds me of a little story a few years back: client: i want an online store just like emag.ro , me: i can do you one better cuz things changed since they made it and they will also upgrade, client: no, i want it just like that, me:ok ... , 4 weeks into the 5 weeks project emag upgrades their site to the Exact look and functionality i was proposing the client Maxxit-Sho...9a-png.jpg
every.single.fcking time.... and they give it to you like they are really going out of their way to help you by putting it into PP
Ugh! I remember this one... "yes, you are starting low, but I look forward to raising you up to where you should be quickly." Which never happened... and then "Bonuses are now based on performance of all branches together, your office's results were fantastic, but xyz city really had a bad year, and even though you don't work together or share projects/clients, no bonus for all your hard work." And that was my incentive to leave!
Hahaha I like the small print * in experimental settings with donkeys and *than jumbo pencils
This designer seems to share my opinion: we live in a society that is as uncreative as no one can imagine. They tell you that they want something new, but in the end it turns out they want the same old stuff. Honestly, it's another proof that office jobs are the worst. I'd rather watch the paint dry than working in an office when I grow older.
Dude, you got a Dell. It may not be as sleek and conforming as a Mac, but at least you can style the task bar in colors other than black or white, and add more RAM yourself in the unlikely event it needs any.
Load More Replies...I was thinking the same thing! I suddenly love my job.
