I love that she acted that way, trying to split the bill and asking the same as him. We really need to stop puting this high expectations in men to be the providers, the think that they need to have money (or pretend that they have it) in order to impress women.

It's because of this that I can't find this heartwarming at all. It's just really sad that he even felt like any of this was necessary... to me, it would be heartwarming if they just went to a cheap, cozy restaurant they both paid for and had fun together because what counts is that they're together, and not showing off paying for things he can't afford, specially when the girl clearly doesn't care about any of it either.

This whole article is uplifting. And a LOT could be learned by the way it all unfolded. I wish more people acted the way the cast of this story did, from the young couple, to the waiter & manager, all the way to the person who wrote the events. unfortunately, ive also witnessed people who are just entitled customers that demand/wait for free stuff from restaurants... Pretty awful.. So it's understandable if it doesn't happen every day.
