Teen Bullied For Her Incredibly Dark Skin Color Becomes A Model, Takes The Internet By Storm
We all know that the fashion industry can be a pretty harsh environment for work. Many girls just cannot take the pressure of looking their best at all times and turn away from the modeling possibilities. And though the industry has rigorous beauty standards, more and more unconventionally beautiful girls become the next superstars.
Khoudia Diop is a 19-year-old Senegalese fashion model who was once bullied about her dark skin color. But now the self-proclaimed “Melanin Goddess” is taking the internet by storm with her beautifully rich skin tone.”I was teased a lot growing up, because of my skin tone,” Khoudia, who is based in Paris, told the Daily Mail. “And even now sometimes, people will make racist comments. Growing up, I faced it by confronting the bullies. As I grew, I learned to love myself more every day, and not pay attention to the negative people.”
Since then Khoudia, now a famous model, who started modeling when she was 17, has won the internet with her beautiful pictures that have earned her a following of over 235k on Instagram. She’s also inspiring people to embrace their differences, writing that “If you’re lucky enough to be different, don’t ever change.” We couldn’t agree more.

She is from Senegal, did you ever study geography? Most of people there are with darker skin, at least 99%. The problem is that many women in Africa are aiming to have brighter skin (the same way like in Europe most of women are going to solarium to be darker).

She is so very beautiful! She said “The message I have for my sisters is that how you look doesn’t matter, as long as you feel beautiful inside” this is for all, not only for dark skinned. I was bullied, because I was extremely white and thin. The teachers always said, I'm ill or even more insulting stuff. Years after that I learned to love, that I'm a bit different. It's not only "ok" to be different, it's a gift :)

some people like big noses and small eyes, other love small noses and big eyes - this is natural. one may even like some skin tones better when looking for love mate. but to say any skin tone is ugly or worse than other in general? how stupid is that?! the most important thing is to be a nice person. and bullies are completely shallow.

You're totally right! She's gorgeous and that's a pretty bada** nickname. And please don't worry about being pale. My neighbors call me Elvira because I have pale skin, black hair, and natural..uh... assets. In a t-shirt and jeans with my hair in a ponytail, I still look like a succubus. My mom is right alongside them with "You're too pale! Your hair is too dark!" It's not by choice! Moms can be brutal. I just strike a pose and wave in a creepy manner whenever anyone shouts "ELVIRA!" I live in a mostly older person community, so I'm called out a lot. *hugs*

People find the stupidest things to bully others about. This lady is beautiful. I think they may be just jealous of her natural beauty. Women need to get a grip. If you're dark, if you're light, or if you're like me, BLINDING WHITE, just accept it and stay your beautiful self. I've been made fun of for being so white and not able to tan. I have traveled this world a lot and never met anyone with skin that dark. It reminds me of statues and art work I would see in the temples of Sri Lanka about a man who's skin was so dark, he appeared to be blue and is depicted as such. In one of her pictures in this story, I can see where that perception would come from. She is a magnificent beauty and a shining light for others who are 'different'. God bless you girl.

Very beautiful and exotic. She just needs to learn to wear colors that complement her natural beauty. Since she has very little in the way of contrast between her skin, eyes and hair, she would look better wearing very dark colors. The bright colors of her dresses call attention to her clothes, not to her.

I'm Asian and I find her skin to be so beautiful and it has a healthy glow to it. As long as she does not have black heart, skin color won't matter. Why do people need to judge/bully her as being very dark colored as that is not a disease people can contract. Really, some humans cannot tolerate those that do not conform to their ideals.

She's so beautiful! I have the opposite problem, being extremely white-skinned. I've been called "vampire" or told that I should tan so that I looked more like the "ideal" beauties in magazines. It was due to my detractors' personal tastes, not what everyone thought. Many others found me beautiful just the way I am. I'm happy with my skin now and I try to ignore any negativity. Being unique is wonderful. 🥰

I saw the picture of her with no makeup and her curly natural hair and thought she was magnificent! She is absolutely beautiful but her skin is what really sets her apart. Her skin is amazing. I love very dark skin on men and women. It's got a glow to it. They tend to pick very pale women for modeling (which has its own beauty too) but I perfer very dark skin. Everyone is beautiful in their own way though but we are allowed to have preferences lol

People tend to make fun of someone for something that is out of their control like skin color. I love that she was able to embrace her beautifully dark skin. She was able to make a career from something that she had been bullied about when she was younger; this proves that beauty is morphing more and more into natural things. I also liked that she was able to stand up to those people that would bully her, she never let them have the upper-hand because she was in control of whether or not she allowed it to affect her.

Glad she learned to tune out the haters early, for she is truly a gorgeous daughter of our Heavenly Father. So sad that so many people automatically think of dark as "ugly;" and pale, "beautiful." I don't care. I don't like the way I look. I wish to have a normal looking face. Not want to be ugly. People's opinion does matter. I don't want my kids to go through that. I feel like I am some naive head case when I see an article like this and think, "Why?" I grew up in the Bronx (but am from Central America);everyone here is different looking, all cultures, all languages, from the second you leave the door. Why would anyone think this knockout, gorgeous woman is "too dark"? Well I can sort of answer from experience. Worldwide, beauty companies sell "lightening skin creams". In every "ethnic" continent. How the hell this happens I am sure is a myriad of advertising execs, beauty magazines, beauty product advertisers, and fashion designer, etc, where the standard of beauty "requires" a lighter tone. The market for lighten-your-skin-products is MASSIVE. Even in the USA all you need do is look at pop stars and actresses here who are lightened up for advertising & magazine covers. Some day, and that day may never come (but I pray it does), the standard of beauty will stop being straight hair and "medium" skin. Whatever that means.

Margie, Michael Jackson has vitilligo (however you spell it) after the Thriller album was released. He didn't turn himself "Caucasian" on purpose. He had to even out his skin tone with makeup, until he eventually turned white. If you haven't noticed, over the years, each time he went outside, he had to walk around with an umbrella, as with vitilligo, you're more prone to sunburn/skin cancers from sunlight. I know this because an old friend of mine had the same condition.

To change my looks now and again, with that skun tone I would use those lenses that give me GREEN eyes. Not hazel .... Green or even blue. Imagine that for impact photos. Then I would Take my hair out my face to show a little more of my magnificent features. Gosh Shes truly striking and lovely.

Third image was photographed by a person highly knowledgeable about portraiture and lighting, light modifiers and specular highlight are very well done, thought her eyes could've been way more sharp.They rest of the images are smartphone/ Instagram filter awful. I'm very knowledgeable in quality portraiture and what knowledge can create a great image straight out of the camera. Also I like to photograph women with darker complexion due to the wide response of their skin to light and modified light, which creates an image with greater 3D allusion. Hope I wasn't to technical.

She is beautiful. I remember an experience I had in the Peace Corps in the late 80's. I was staying with a host family and the mother (widowed) showed me a picture of her older daughter. She proudly said, "This is my daughter. Doesn't she have light skin?" (The mother had married a British expat.) Unfortunately, many people want to be a lighter skin tone.

I was bullied, because I was extremely white and thin. The teachers always said, I'm ill or even more insulting stuff. Years after that I learned to love, that I'm a bit different. My neighbors call me Elvira because I have pale skin, black hair, and natural..uh... assets. In a t-shirt and jeans with my hair in a ponytail, I still look like a succubus. I have traveled this world a lot and never met anyone with skin that dark. It reminds me of statues and art work I would see in the temples of Sri Lanka about a man who's skin was so dark, he appeared to be blue and is depicted as such. Very beautiful and exotic. She just needs to learn to wear colors that complement her natural beauty. Since she has very little in the way of contrast between her skin, eyes and hair, she would look better wearing very dark colors. I'm Asian and I find her skin to be so beautiful and it has a healthy glow to it. As long as she does not have black heart, skin color won't matter. She's so beautiful! I have the opposite problem, being extremely white-skinned. I've been called "vampire" or told that I should tan so that I looked more like the "ideal" beauties in magazines. It was due to my detractors' personal tastes, not what everyone thought. Many others found me beautiful just the way I am. I'm happy with my skin now and I try to ignore any negativity. I saw the picture of her with no makeup and her curly natural hair and thought she was magnificent! She is absolutely beautiful but her skin is what really sets her apart. Her skin is amazing. I love very dark skin on men and women. It's got a glow to it. They tend to pick very pale women for modeling (which has its own beauty too) but I perfer very dark skin. Everyone is beautiful in their own way though but we are allowed to have preferences lol

People tend to make fun of someone for something that is out of their control like skin color. I love that she was able to embrace her beautifully dark skin. She was able to make a career from something that she had been bullied about when she was younger; this proves that beauty is morphing more and more into natural things. I also liked that she was able to stand up to those people that would bully her, she never let them have the upper-hand because she was in control of whether or not she allowed it to affect her.

She IS beautiful and she would be beautiful if her skin was any shade or color. She has the one feature I envy the most in other women like her and that is a beautiful smile. It seems to be the one feature that can make others not really notice if you're over weight, or have the greatest hair, or you lack style or grace. A beautiful smile seems to radiate the beauty from within that otherwise might not ever be seen.

If we all looked alike, or tried to act alike, we wouldn't be able to function properly in this world. If everybody checking out this story understood that she was not bullied in her country of origin! because if you knew anything about Senegal, pretty much the whole country is her color and darker. her bullying came as a result of her living among white people in Paris France, which is a predominately Caucasian population. so how could she be teased because of her skin tone by a people of the same color? Just food for thought

I feel like I am some naive head case when I see an article like this and think, "Why?" I grew up in the Bronx (but am from Central America);everyone here is different looking, all cultures, all languages, from the second you leave the door. Why would anyone think this knockout, gorgeous woman is "too dark"? Well I can sort of answer from experience. Worldwide, beauty companies sell "lightening skin creams". In every "ethnic" continent. How the hell this happens I am sure is a myriad of advertising execs, beauty magazines, beauty product advertisers, and fashion designer, etc, where the standard of beauty "requires" a lighter tone. The market for lighten-your-skin-products is MASSIVE. Even in the USA all you need do is look at pop stars and actresses here who are lightened up for advertising & magazine covers. Some day, and that day may never come (but I pray it does), the standard of beauty will stop being straight hair and "medium" skin. Whatever that means.

Margie, Michael Jackson has vitilligo (however you spell it) after the Thriller album was released. He didn't turn himself "Caucasian" on purpose. He had to even out his skin tone with makeup, until he eventually turned white. If you haven't noticed, over the years, each time he went outside, he had to walk around with an umbrella, as with vitilligo, you're more prone to sunburn/skin cancers from sunlight. I know this because an old friend of mine had the same condition.

To change my looks now and again, with that skun tone I would use those lenses that give me GREEN eyes. Not hazel .... Green or even blue. Imagine that for impact photos. Then I would Take my hair out my face to show a little more of my magnificent features. Gosh Shes truly striking and lovely.

Third image was photographed by a person highly knowledgeable about portraiture and lighting, light modifiers and specular highlight are very well done, thought her eyes could've been way more sharp.They rest of the images are smartphone/ Instagram filter awful. I'm very knowledgeable in quality portraiture and what knowledge can create a great image straight out of the camera. Also I like to photograph women with darker complexion due to the wide response of their skin to light and modified light, which creates an image with greater 3D allusion. Hope I wasn't to technical.

She is beautiful. I remember an experience I had in the Peace Corps in the late 80's. I was staying with a host family and the mother (widowed) showed me a picture of her older daughter. She proudly said, "This is my daughter. Doesn't she have light skin?" (The mother had married a British expat.) Unfortunately, many people want to be a lighter skin tone.

Ppl need recognition only when they feel weak about it within themselves.it's more than what others say or set their limits of beauty....rather its more of u what u think of urself.when a fat girl gets slimmer and look beautiful or a girl with ugly curly hair gets her hair straightened ..such events are not seen as major events by the ppl as such so called defects are amendable.but we can't change our skin colour...can we,?not much even after using costly cosmetics.
