As the new work week drags on, one needs to get a nice break from time to time. And what would make you pause your worries better than a batch of funny and unpredictable comics? So take 5, ease your mind, and just enjoy some refreshingly random Deliberately Buried comics by Sean—they are every bit as hilarious as they are unexpectedly twisted.

Deliberately Buried comics sometimes surface on Bored Panda, and here's the first part of the collection from more than half a year ago, if you want to check it out. Have a pleasant read!

"Deliberately Buried Comics" are deliberately made to look sillier than they actually are. First of all, the comic narrative always leads you by the nose only to turn out to be something you didn't expect, and it does so almost without fail. It shows that no matter how dumb the plot is, the narrative takes a hold of you. The second thing is that no matter how silly they are, they're by no means done by a silly person. Comedy is one of the hardest things to do, and judging by how funny they are, they're not done by some ignorant, humorless oaf, I can tell you that much.

If you love dark humor, you've probably come across a few people who think that you're insensitive, or mentally unhealthy. But don't feel bad about it—those people are wrong. Turns out, you're probably more intelligent, less aggressive, and process negativity better than those who tend to take offense at such jokes. The second thing is, it's also a way to process unpleasant experiences in our lives, and it's much better than to just wallow in misery. Last but not least, what else is there to do but to laugh in the face of the absurd?

The artist refrains from putting a set meaning to his comics, and what they're all about. "I never know. Sometimes I just start drawing and hope that a comic will reveal itself to me. Other times I’ll have an idea in the shower. Often times, I’ll start out trying to make one joke and it’ll completely evolve into something else.

I feel like a lot of other webcomic artists have an ongoing theme or reoccurring characters. I find it hard to stay with an continuing idea. There are so many talented artists making comics out there that I feel like you really need to surprise people and make them think “what the hell did I just read?”"

"Deliberately Buried Comics" often surface on the Instagram feed, where the account has a respectable following of almost 80k, a solid 7k more than just half a year ago. The brand is growing slowly but surely, and, hopefully, it's more than halfway to its first million followers. The artist funnily dedicates the comic to "people" in quotation marks. The author describes himself as "just a boy, standing in front of an Internet, asking it to give me likes." So give that boy a like, and a follow, if you're feeling generous!

When asked where he got his sense of humor from, Sean replied in his own sense of humor: "I saved a magic goblin from a bear trap in the woods and as a reward, he promised me modest cartooning success."

I've been trying to figure out what attracts our brains to plot twists so much. Well, there are numerous reasons, but the key reason is that plot twists exploit our mental and perceptional limitations. If you want to be an excellent "plot twister," you have to really delve deep into how the human mind works, and exploit the shortcomings of our brain. Cognitive scientist Vera Tobin points out a few fallacies that help in building a plot twist: the curse of knowledge, confirmation bias, anchoring, availability bias, and, last but not least, hindsight bias.

My plans are to just keep making comics and try to get as many people as I can to see them. I have a Patreon account in which I post a whole other comic every day. I only post it there. It’s basically a daily diary entry. So if people want a glimpse into a more personal world, they can subscribe to that. I also offer all sorts of bonus things like stickers and postcards and magnets and pins, etc. So I keep pretty busy making new stuff for all the people that sign up!
