Mahmoud Refaat is a Cairo based illustrator and graphic designer. In his “Cute Yellow” series he presents us with a humorous look at the internal anatomy of some of our favorite yellow cartoon characters, such as Homer Simpson and Spongebob Squarepants. The images are simultaneously cute and creepy, imparting a wonderfully dark humor a la Jason Freeny. It’s hard to imagine looking at any of these characters in the same light again.
