You can see houses in every color of the rainbow in the US depending on where you’re at. There are many Victorian homes in my area that are very brightly colored. Although in many places, houses tend to be in more muted tones, such as grey or beige, but there really aren’t any rules in the US regarding house colors.

usually they are white, brown, or tan. a lot of neighborhoods that are under the home owners association aren't allowed to have any other colors. but every once in a while you will see a dark muted green or even a muted yellow house. i am not american and this is one of the many things that i don't think i will ever get used to.

Lots and lots of neutrals. Light grey, pale yellow, white, beige, taupe, etc. It's horribly homogenous.

In the US some snobby neighborhoods have Home Owners Associations that dictate everything about your home and yard. These places are for zombies that wish someone would put their pictures in a magazine. I do not live in one. A guy down the street has a pink and purple house with black trim. He was a janitor at our school. I think he took a lot of LSD in his day.

It depends where you are. In the suburb I live in the colors are gray, gray-green, green-tan, tan, and tan grey. Drives me bananas but it's the HOA standard.

The latest trend in my area is dark gray. It looks depressing as heck, but all the new houses being built for the last few years are dark gray.

Many housing developments (built by one company but sold individually) are painted the most boring beige available, and the owners are too afraid to choose their own colors for fear of hurting the resale value or offending neighbors. Homeowners Associations often mandate these non colors. Worse, dark grey has become trendy, compared with which battleship grey is cheerful.

Varying shades of beige are the most common. Grey's and browns as well. Almost always something "neutral" primary colors are often forbidden by HOAs

US here. Sage green house with coral accents. Was peach, then pink. Blue house on one side, yellow on other. Big city.

Some areas have a lot of dull colors (white, grey, brown). Others have very vivid. Where I grew up, you could tell if you were near the ocean by the color of the houses. In many areas, people usually keep the natural brick color, where people use brick to build houses. (That varies on the local natural geography.)

Same as you. Don't know what this woman is thinking. We even have gray, brown, yellow, green, etc., houses too.

Where I grew up, everything was various shades of beige, white, brown, or other "unobtrusive" colours. Before painting their house, each neighbour would have to get their colour approved by the other neighbours or consult a guide of pre-approved colours. As a result, there weren't any fun colours and no one house stood out much - some people like this because the communities look more "clean" but for me this always felt kind of boring and stale.

I lived in the US for a while, and their houses are either white, beige or light grey, only in big cities do they have some colourful ones, and in the suburbs is WORSE because even if you own the house you may only pick an exterior paint shade from a pre-approved list of colours that are basically 80 shades of beige. There are some neighbourhoods that were getting interesting when I was on my way out, still sticking to neutrals but being a bit bold about it... like maybe a dark grey or a navy blue, but that's about it.

I've actually seen a lot of colors around just my neighborhood (It surprised me to) In fact, there's a purple house not to far from us. But to be honest most of the houses are blue and red XD

White, beige, brown, yellow. As you get closer to the equator and the poles (Florida, Arizona, Maine, Latin America, Canada, for example) the colors tend to be brighter.

I've seen purples, greens etc., though my childhood home was beige. We lived across from a school with lots of exposed red dirt, and a lot of wind, lol.

Grey, Gray, Light gray. Light grey, Dark gray, maroon the color of bricks. Architectual mental stimulation I not a thing in America. I've place in Latin America were the coloring of buildings is a contect of who can do it the best. I found it, um, stimulating, attention grabbing.

Drab, drab and drab. And once in a while, yellow. And that's here in Canada, too (except Newfoundland)

They have all sorts of colors, but many are muted or just straight gray or white

Lots of neutral shades, white, gray tan with accent colors painted on shutters- which are mostly mock and don't actually close over windows- and the front door. Down South and the areas known for having lots of desert terrain like Arizona, New Mexico, actually have many houses painted various shades of pink, usually a salmon pink to practically orange. And there are definitely rules if you live in a historic neighborhood, or one dictated by a homeowner association.

Occasionally a house will be painted something other than white or beige, but its not common.
