It seems like I've been cross-stitching my whole life. I really enjoy this type of creativity. Recently, I found myself without a job, and to find a way out of this situation, I started creating and selling my own cross-stitch patterns. Yes, in such a difficult time for me, I decided to create my own workspace—a digital cross-stitch pattern designer. A dream job!
It's not all smooth sailing yet, but I'm moving forward. And most importantly, I even like the difficulties in this work. I am happy that I started this path. I want to show you my cross-stitch patterns. Maybe you will like one of them. Thank you for your attention!

Cross-stitch is a type of needlework known to us since ancient times. Even primitive people used a similar sewing technique in the manufacture of clothes, but then it was used not for the purpose of decoration but to obtain durable and easy-to-work seams. Thus, the date of the emergence of embroidery can be called the time when ancient people began to sew their own clothes. However, over time, embroidery began to be used for decorative purposes.
I first became interested in cross-stitching during my childhood. My mother is a creative person; she knits, cross-stitches, sews, cooks, and engages in many other activities. (Mom, I love you!) Naturally, I also wanted to try creating something with my own hands. Knitting didn't quite work out for me, but I found real enjoyment in cross-stitching.
The process of cross-stitching is highly engaging; sometimes, it's nearly impossible to stop. Cross-stitching serves as a wonderful method to dispel negative thoughts because, during the process, one focuses solely on avoiding mistakes in the pattern—a benefit I came to appreciate in adulthood.
Hobbies are not just a pleasant pastime; they involve the development of skills, abilities, and knowledge. And as you progress, you inevitably seek more. Thus, I wanted to create my own cross-stitch patterns. This process is just as engaging as cross-stitching itself.
It so happened that I lost my job. This pushed me towards the idea of realizing the dream of many people - doing what you love and making money from it. And I embarked on that path. It wasn't easy, but when you are engaged in something you love, everything is solvable.
The process of creating cross-stitch patterns is very captivating. You can realize all your ideas. There are many programs for creating digital cross-stitch patterns (both free and paid). The main thing is to find a program in which you will be comfortable working; one whose quality of cross-stitch patterns will satisfy you. Perhaps this is the main difficulty.
I started with simple cross-stitch patterns, then began learning how to add backstitch. And I am very pleased that even such a seemingly simple thing as cross-stitching makes you evolve.
What can I say to those who want to start their own business selling cross-stitch patterns?
- Learn to make high-quality cross-stitch patterns. They can be on any theme, but they must be of high quality. A beginner's mistake is thinking we're creating masterpieces when we start. Later, as you develop, you realize that this is far from true. Yes, there are patterns that I am still ashamed of. Do not repeat my mistake.
- Stitch your cross-stitch patterns instead of just creating digital versions. Firstly, because there are now many scammers generating images using artificial intelligence. It looks like cross-stitching but it is not. This is often seen on Facebook in groups related to cross-stitching. People are deceived by scammers, and they stop trusting everyone else. Secondly, when you stitch your design, you can see mistakes and correct them in time. Thirdly, your store will look cozier. It will be evident that you truly love what you do.
- It's one thing to create a product, and another to sell it. Good photos, accurate product descriptions, and much more are important here. It's a constant process, and you definitely won't get bored. When working as an employee, I had less work. But it's worth it!
I would frame this, and put hang it on my wall. It’s really pretty☺️!
My first and main store is already a year old. In March 2024, I created my own website. In April, I opened a second store on a new platform. It's a new marketplace, and I wanted to support them and try something new myself.
Thank you for your attention! In conclusion, I want to write the words that I once read and they became my slogan: "Creativity is an opportunity to give freedom to your soul." And it really does.
As a fellow yogi I totally can relate to this one. Would like to hang it on my wall 😍
They're all very pretty, and I especially like the rooster!! Thank you for sharing.
Lots of effort in these creative works of art! The Kangaroo reminds me of a project that I have on hold based on a childhood memory. Only that one has a bit more humor and sentiment. I had this favorite school bag I let some other kid use/borrow on the last day of grade one school. She really never returned it the next year. Well kind of, only she covered it in her own scribbles and words. So I disappointingly let her have her mess.
