Otherworldly cracking ships sail from artists’ Modestas Malinauskas fantasies. Each painting tells a different story, but every single one of them comes from the same magical fantasy world.

Modestas Malinauskas is a Lithuanian painter. His artworks are painted on canvases using a difficult multiple layered oil painting technique.

Many of his paintings look like they could be great art for a fantasy novel or a comic book. The detail he achieves in his paintings are incredible – each ship seems to be cobbled together from a collection of scrap materials and sheets of metal, strips of tape and string – they are even occasionally bursting at the seams.

It takes a long time to create but the end result is magic and inspiring!
