Cow Amoosed By My Son’s Cow Shirt

My 10 year old son is an absolute lover of anything cow related. He recently met one for the first time and it turns out the feeling is moo-tual!

After being assigned a history project about pioneer farming, my son was appalled by the condition and treatment of animals in modern day, corporate farming. His teacher arranged a visit to a local, family owned ROBOTIC dairy farm. He was finally able to get up close and actually touch a cow. He had given up meat long ago, but seeing the humane way in which these cows were treated helped him come to terms with his ice cream addiction.

“Factory farming isn't just killing: It is negation, a complete denial of the animal as a living being with his or her own needs and nature. It is not the worst evil we can do, but it is the worst evil we can do to them.” ― Matthew Scully, Dominion: The Power of Man, the Suffering of Animals, and the Call to Mercy Legally, animals bred for human consumption have fewer rights than our pets and our pets’ rights are miniscule enough. Production animals are considered commodities — objects — not living, sentient beings. Why? So, humans can justify the killing and consumption as moral and normal.
