Guy Carries His Corgi In His Backpack, Brightens Everyone’s Day As They Commute (31 Pics)
New York is a city bustling with people. As one would expect from a mega-city, traffic is always intense and packed, since everyone has their own things to do. It’s natural for people in such a city to be somewhat indifferent towards their environment, as everyone is inside their phone, mostly. Mostly. Because sometimes, something brilliant might happen. The concrete jungle is always wild and unpredictable. And when it happens, people drop what they’re doing, forget their own little worries for a while, and they rejoice. There’s one adorable dog in NYC who has the great responsibility of doing just that.

One could argue that the little 3-year-old corgi dog, Maxine, has become an unofficial mascot of sorts for the New York subway. She inspires cheerfulness and good vibes wherever she goes. “I love seeing how happy she makes everyone, especially on our early-morning or after-work commutes when people aren’t so thrilled to be shoved into a train full of strangers,” this cute dog’s owner told Bored Panda. Being perceptive, he noticed that and started filming the crowd’s reactions as they commuted.

But the whole get-up isn’t there just to grab attention. She spends most of the commute tucked neatly inside her owner’s backpack so that people won’t step on Maxine’s tiny feet and she won’t get lost in the crowd. And apparently, Bryan’s been doing this from the get-go ever since he got Maxine. At first, he took her in a makeshift dog carrier – a tote bag when he started his freelance work at a dog-friendly production company. “Then, when she got bigger, I had the idea to start carrying her in a dog backpack. So I’ve been doing that for about 3 years now—and she’s come with me to every office I’ve worked in. She’s even come with me to job interviews.”

The pair has become somewhat famous, as they’ve climbed over the 300k Instagram follower mark, and judging by the increasing reactions from the pedestrians, this adorably silly dog isn’t planning on losing her charm soon. “Nowadays more and more people recognize her on the subway and walking on the street,” the owner told us. As it ironically turns out, Max not only likes to spread cheer—she also likes actual cheerios. I guess for this happy dog, receiving a cheerio is as satisfying as inspiring cheer.

Either way, let’s hope we meet her someday on the subway, ’cause it would, for sure, save one’s day. Oh, and by the way, this isn’t the first time this funny doggo has been featured on Bored Panda. Check out the post where she has been photoshopped as the star of famous movies if you missed it.
