Sometimes you have to modify them to suit the tastebuds of the people you’re serving them to. I don’t just mean people who weren’t raised on them, there are also people whose gastrointestinal system is somewhat delicate, and can’t take hot, spicy foods. Or wheat. Or dairy. Or…you get the picture.

On that note, why is putting ketchup on fries, tater tots or potato wedges perfectly normal, but tell someone you put ketchup on a baked potato and they look at you like you're insane.

Dutchie here! Fries with mayo are so good but put in some satesauce (pindasaus) with it and you have the best dip ever! According to me though :)

The Netherlands uses a type of mayo. I don't think it tastes like the US mayo. I end up mixing US mayo and ketchup together. Most Americans will make the "grossed out face" if they see mayo anywhere near fries. Lol

Which is weird, because the US came up with "Mcdonalds fries dipped in milkshake" as a concept.

Since visiting the Netherlands in the 70s have mayo on my fries all the time.
