Which I have said many times here is STUPID and BP needs to FIX IT. There is a report button on each article....THAT is what should be used to determine bans. NOT DOWNVOTES. Downvotes because you disagree with what the commenter said is how it works ON EVERY OTHER FREAKING SITE ON THE INTERNET. I'll get a ban for this I am sure. They must use some free reporting system.

The problem is that it is user moderated site. Their guidelines actually state if you get 10 downvotes they automatically assume you are guilty of violating some guideline. The first time is a 1 day suspension from commenting. The second time is 5 days, and the third is a permanent ban! So just because someone disagrees with you or doesn't like your choice of words, you can be banned. The real irony is almost all content is plagiarized from Reddit which has looser standards.

Even if the cables all snap (highly unlikely in itself) elevators have emergency brakes which activate as soon as the descent reaches a certain speed. So if it starts to go into freefall the brakes are forced out against the walls of the elevator shaft and slow it to a steady descent.
