“Stood In The Wrong Place”: 30 Ways People Wrecked Their Lives With Just One Awful Choice

It's not normal in most places. The guy was a teenager and IIRC had had a bit to drink with his friends that night, and ate the slug on a dare. I'm sure no one, even his buddies who dared him to eat the slug, imagined things would end as they did. I'm sure his friends still feel a measure of guilt to this day, even though they could not have known the slug carried Rat Lungworm Disease. It is a sad situation all around :(

I'm so sorry for your loss, doesn't matter how long ago it was, a tragedy like that stays with you forever. However, I'm sure you've been told a million times already, but whatever happened, you were 8, a literal child. Unless you locked your baby brother in a room and deliberately set fire to your house, you can not take any blame. I hope one day you forgive yourself. I honestly could not imagine how you felt and are still feeling, but my heart goes out to you

Due to a series of bad decisions by my 8 year old self and my poor mother, my baby brother died in a house fire. My mother and I were indirectly responsible for it. It was horrible and my mother never recovered. Neither have I really. Edit: thanks everyone for your kind words. This event happened in May of 1980. It has hung over me heavily ever since. My mother has since passed but she was a wreck for the 29 years following my brother's death, understandably. She got help but it only helped to a point. I didn't get help until my early 40's but I'm ok, therapy helped me a lot. I still think about him, Jasen, and I know it wasn't my fault or my mom's. It was just a series of events due to ignorance and inattention, my mom was doing a whole bunch of things at once and had 3 young kids to watch over and it only took a moment for tragedy to strike. I wish it on no one.

I think kids should try everything. Meat, veg, fish, fruit, all of it. My 1 year old nephew is at that age where he wants to try everything, and I think that's fantastic. I think if you force a diet on kids, you end up with super picky eaters that never want to try anything new. But having said that as long as bubs is happy and healthy, then I guess it doesn't really matter what everyone else thinks rigbt
