Really makes you wonder what's lurking in some people's heads if a bit of alcohol obliterates all their boundaries. I was once almost attacked by a drunken stranger. His somewhat more sober friends held him back, if they hadn't been there it might have ended badly for me. I just walked past them. I didn't even look at him funny. He just saw a woman and wanted to go after her.

Of course I get why the knee jerk reactions are mostly about "this POS should rot in jail forever" type deal, but how about taking a deeper look at things. This was apparently a decent looking guy that was local and this was in a safe, well lit area. That means the man is clearly mentally ill and I don't see how hoping he dies helps anybody. Getting "revenge" on the guy isn't going to change what happened, or in this case help prevent it in the future. Crazy is crazy, and wishing more pain and suffering because his brain is all kinds of f****d up isn't a solution. Keep him away from society to prevent him from reoffending? Sure. That helps. Wishing him pain and torment and death? Not helping.

Unfortunately, rape isn't about sex, it's about power and dominance. So, if he was castrated, and then for some reason let go, he wouldn't stop attacking women, he would just beat a woman to death instead of stopping to rape her in the process. I agree with you, some people are not redeemable, some crimes are not forgivable and some lives are not worth 'saving'.

When you start picking apart the behaviors and circumstances surrounding the victim..you start victim blaming. A lot of the times the "triggers" have nothing to do with the victim at all..the attacker just decides this is the day he's going to do it. To sit there and say "if we can identify the trigger..maybe we can avoid it" is the same mentality that made jurors acquit a 27 year old man of raping a 17 year old girl..just because the defense attorney paraded her lacy thong underwear around the courtroom. What a woman wears, how she behaves, where she goes and when she goes there has nothing to do with being raped. Women shouldn't have to be afraid to go anywhere. The key to this solution is to stop letting boys get away with mistreating girls before they become men.
