Mister Mister, I'd just like to say that your opinion about overweight people is rude and inconsiderate. (As evidenced by the fact that all of your comments have negative scores and more than half were hidden. Also because every time someone comes up with a counterargument to the "she could just eat less, and then she wouldn't get bullied" nonsense, you tell everyone that they "can't handle the truth". You're doing exactly what you, and the original article writer, were warning against. You're trying to bully an entire comment section.

Every gym I've ever been to (6) has required that new members be shown how every piece of equipment works. It seems a little risky to let people loose without knowing how to use everything safely.

If en elderly person comes to the gym and reads newspaper while moving legs on a machine, I'd say leave them be instead of mocking. You have no clue what their condition is. They might have stayed at home and potato on the couch, instead they are at least moving a bit. Or he might have been testing the equipment. My local gym has a contract with sportswear manufacturer and they give out sports wear to be tested for sweating, level of comfort etc.

I'm not sure if they intended to do this, but it's interesting on a way deeper level. The letter that could be both, an "i" or and "a" is displayed by a little stick figure that represents a person. And this person is basically you and it's your choice, if the letter is an "i" or an "a". You wanne be fit...be an "i"...of not...well...stay fatforever. :D
