Yep, my dad was my first heartbreak. The day I head him telling my mum I was too fat and would never find a husband if didn't get off my fat a*s, was the day our relationship broke. I then later found out he was a convicted sex offender when I tried to foster (with the husband, I'd never find because I was too fat). We went NC after I'd heard him tell 5 different stories about how he got the conviction and found out the truth from the Social Worker who was working with us.

My issue is that weddings have just been taken over with people thinking it has to be perfect and color coordinated. I had 5 bridemaids, all wore what they felt they'd be comfortable in and I wore what I was comfortable in. Everyone was happy and we had a great day. Focus on the marriage rather than the wedding and it doesn't matter what people look like.

I have one true male friend and there is nothing more to the relationship than that. He is happily married, I am happily single. He and I have a brother/sister type relationship. His wife doesn't feel threatened by our friendship in anyway. She is just happy that he has a friend. On the other hand, I thought I had another male friend, we met at work and hit it off immediately, same kind of humor, liked the same things etc. I was very clear that I was a happily single woman and choose to remain that way (bad relationships and realizing that I am Aromantic). He started to ask me to do more things with him e.g. out for dinner, cinema, walks etc. On one of these outings he confessed how he had feelings for me and always liked me. I was gentle, but very clear that I it was just a friendship. I never heard from him again, he even left the company a few weeks after the event. This is the typical male behavior, they befriend a woman hoping for more, whereas a woman will just want a friend.

A birthday party can be classed as something big or small, it depends on how you look at it. My kid doesn't like large groups of people, so just has 2 friends each year that they celebrate with. They consider that their birthday party. My friends kids have 10-15 people at theirs, they consider that a party. It's just a celebration of that person with a gathering of people, be it big or small.

The relationship between a man and the mother of his child needs to be good for the child. My partner is still friends with his ex and I actively encourage that for the sake of their kids. You either trust your husband or you don't. If you don't then you shouldn't be together. Also I'm guessing there is more to this story as you've not mentioned if you and husband got together after they separated or during them being together. She also doesn't have to like you. Get over yourself.

So for one of my first dates, he asked me out and paid for the meal. We then decided that we still wanted to hang out and went bowling, which I paid for. I'm all for splitting the check if you just let me know when you ask me out, cause that helps me budget. I don't care about having to pay, as long as I know that I need to. The only battles worth fighting small children over are safety related ones. You want to roll in the mud and eat nothing but doritos for 3 weeks? Go for it. You're going to wear disney princess heels, a swimsuit, a tutu, and a ski hat to the grocery store? Rock on little one. I've been raising kids for 18 years, all different ages and personalities. It just isn't worth the energy to battle them if it's not actually affecting their safety or the safety of others around them.
