In my country the government hate cars. They tax you for having a car. Most of the cost of fuel is tax, and then they tax you on the tax! There are not many places left you can park for free. Even the hospitals charge to park when you turn up! But they keep allowing people to build shops and services outside of towns. But our public transport is so expensive and bad that people are left no other option but to use cars.

Why didn't anyone mention phone systems that you have to press a variety of numbers and wait forever while listening to elevator "music" on repeat endlessly while waiting for some company rep, who isn't even in the country or work directly for the company you're trying to reach? That is the most frustrating thing I can think of and there's nothing you can do except scream "agent" or "representative" when they ask for more info so they can direct you, just so you can repeat it all again 20 minutes later when (if) you get an actual human on the phone. A little tip for renovations. Start with the bedroom. Get it done so you have a place to rest/safehaven. Do 1 room at a time afterwards. Hallways are always the last thing you renovate. When you do the kitchen try and find a small area first where you can setup a temporary kitchen. Takeout is gonna get old real fast, and coffee/tea will keep you sane. If you only have one bathroom/toilet do it when you got time off work so you can get it done as fast as possible. Edit: when you start a project. Make a time schedule. Then add about 40% to it. Nothing is ever easy there are always bumps on the road, and they are easier to deal with when you dont feel pressured from time.
