Tiffany, it's interesting, because I've *only* encountered Christians who are that level of judgy. I grew up in the Bible belt and every interaction I've had with Christians has been judgmental, hypocritical, and in one instance, sexually abusive. Every single one, without exception. And before someone comes at me with "well, those aren't REAL Christians", don't. They go to church, quote the Bible, and represent Christianity, so yes, they are the only "real" Christian most of us know. I do believe there are truly good Christians in the world, I've just never met one. And honestly, I wouldn't care what they believed, if it wasn't something that I see infiltrating education and politics and causing serious problems .

There absolutely are sport tampons. Playtex makes some and they expand differently and have a leak guard. She is simply misinformed, just like a lot of people around the world. I don’t know why you would think that her having an incorrect belief would mean it’s made up. I mean, you were wrong about there being a tampon made specifically for sports and about the possibility of a pad becoming detached and floating away (it is possible, but that’s not the main reason not to wear one when you swim). I’m pretty sure that doesn’t mean you’re a liar.

If they are a minor and the parent absolutely insists on doing this (which I disagree with), don't be sneaky about it. Do it WITH your child, not when they leave the room. There is zero trust and zero respect here clearly.. neither of which will lead to a healthy relationship.

You perpetuate an ideal that God is best and God knows all and everything that happens is God's will. You read from a book of fiction written and read by people who did/do nothing but use and abuse the stories as guide on how to indoctrinate young minds into believing in an invisible sky man who will send you to eternal damnation if you don't follow "the rules". I'm not saying you are a bad person not at all. I know I kinda came out of the gate swinging there and I apologize if you feel like I'm attacking you personally, you might be the nicest person in the world so again I apologize. The problem (I have) with christians, the christian faith and other religious factions is that they bring you into this lager aspect of "organized" religion. And as the same with all entities that huge, certain people at the top tend to take advantage. It's almost a capitalistic way of thinking but instead of controlling interests they try to control the mind and body. No one needs an organisation to tell them how to live well and be a decent person. It simply takes a decent person to say "ok, I can be good and kind atheist". You could argue that society as a whole from "then" til now is based on what religious teachings have given us but when you look at all the wars, the bigotry and violence carried out in his name. I think I'd have to disagree. I'm not saying you can't have faith, hell I'm not even telling you not to believe. But I do have this one last thing. This is a quote from one of my favourite movies “I think it’s better to have ideas. You can change an idea. Changing a belief is trickier. Life should be malleable and progressive; working from idea to idea permits that. Beliefs anchor you to certain points and limit growth; new ideas can’t generate. Life becomes stagnant.” This feels closer to what an all loving and almighty God might want. At least to me. Okay I'm shutting up now.

The majority of people who are opposed to comprehensive sex education (which would cover tampon use) in the US identify as Christians. There's a direct correlation between abstinence only ed and states with conservative Christian majorities. There are obviously lovely Christian people but it's not only 1% of Christians that are vehemently anti sex ed. That's just one health issue or subject of many where Christians are harming others with their beliefs. Once again it's not all Christians, but it's not a small amount either. But I can only speak about the US which is where I assume OP is from since this is a commonly expressed sentiment by many in certain conservative Christian households.

....I cannot imagine ANYTHING being stuck up there during my period being the least bit arousing, INCLUDING a p*nis. It's literally a bloody mess in there at that time! And for me, at least, even wiping too hard can trigger what I've been told by my gyn are essentially labor contractions.

The idea that tampons "take away innocence" is directly correlated to the fact that they don't *want* young women to know anything can "go up there". Because if she knows that, she might think about letting a p*nis up there. And thus be well on her way to "sl*tdom". They want women thinking that area is a "one-way street" until marriage. They also think *anything* going up there might "break the freshness seal", rendering her "used goods". Because in their "good book", a woman is the property of her father, and then her husband - and "no one wants used goods". 1. If a menstrual pad comes off the swim bottoms quickly after one gets in the water, before it absorbs much water, it will float. I have seen this with my own eyes, and you can verify on your own with a basic experiment with a clean pad and a sink. 2. Playtex Sport is the name for that brand's "super absorbency" tampons just like "Pearl" is for Tampax. 3. This is a girl who has had to "figure it all out alone," in her own words. Absolutely she is misinformed like WOAH, but given her circumstances it's absolutely understandable. And I must confess at 45, having had a period for the past 23 years, I thought tampons absorbed some water in a pool or hot tub, too--I honestly don't know much about tampons other than what I just looked up because they're largely not really an option for me. On the rare occasion I've used one, I've discarded it immediately after changing out of my swimsuit and it's been thoroughly soaked, but whether that was all blood or not, I can't say.

Unless you have a really good sob story that can go on the news (like the one where these small kids wanted to save their horse and needed to pay a few k to send it out across a few states for surgery) otherwise your just begging for money from friends and family. In a lot of ways, unless you can go viral or have a large social media presence, it's very similar in effect to working for a MLM. You have no choice but to work your way through friends and family.

I seriously don't understand how some of these got donated to. The only time I attempted a GoFundMe was when my ferret needed vet care that I was 600 dollars short on. Didn't get a single donor. Not that I really expected to because I am sure there are far more desperate campaigns then mine. That being said I know my sick ferret was more worthy than the above. My running theory is I am unlikable, especially on the internet.
