I had a dream once when I was a yound kid of going to school naked and my teeth falling out in class. The janitor took me to the broom closet, where he had an extra change of clothes, and somehow was able to collect my teeth in that time, give them to me, and I put them back in as he was telling me a story. They spelt it "jipped" lol Did not know any derogatory background. The best part of this is I am actually of Romani descent and not insulted by the word but this 20 something chose to be offended on our behalf. They can carbon date anything with charcoal, which is how they date many drawings, but engraved or sculpted stone or red paintings can be estimated by the build up of certain materials on the surface of the work. For example: a rock would have mineral deposits on it, which would be destroyed when it was carved. Then new deposits would form. They know how long it takes for those deposits to form. Not a stupid question. I have a background in archeology and didn't know this. I had the read the scientific article on dating to find out.

With the heatwave this summer I started making cubes of hummingbird sugar-water, putting into their feeders then hanging them outside so the hummers could have a chilled drink, too.

Agree. I was just looking at that photo and some others myself. Their cartoons are basically characterized versions of themselves. Which is fine. The point of the comics is relating the situations, not making photo realistic passport photos. If one is imagining, no harm in imagining a slightly better or different version of yourself. If I was drawing a character that was based on me, I'd probably change it more than they did to make myself less of a potato.
