Hi, I'm Rob.
I make comics about nature and why it's worth saving.
You might think that's a sober theme, but in order to drive these ideas home, I use humor as my vehicle.
Here's a 5-year retrospective about all the junk that's in our oceans. If this doesn't inspire you to cut down on single-use plastics, I'm not sure what will!
Living in Seattle and often taking in the splendor of Washington State's natural beauty and wildlife, I've dedicated my time to creating artwork that engages people about biodiversity, kindness to all living things and why that's important. Since it's so hard for me to take anything seriously, the gel that I use to hold all these subjects together is humor. No matter how grim an idea I might convey, I always add a dash of gallows humor to make the sadness a bit more palatable.
Not all of my comics are about plastic pollution—I make fun of just about everything! From mushrooms to plants and all the way around the evolutionary bush—if it's alive—I probably made a comic about it. You should check out the rest of my work and let me know what creatures I haven't covered yet—you may have a tougher time than you think! (While you're there, be sure to check out my popular story polls—every day I ask a different question that's usually pretty entertaining.)

Just watched the documentary "seaspiracy" on Netflix when I learned that about 49%, of the plastic in the seas are from wrecked fishing nets and 0,003% from plastic straws. Why, the hell, is nobody is mentioning it?? Not trusting sustainable labeling anymore! I guess I have been to naive........:(((
i do hate paper straws, but not the environment, so i use only paper straws. you may need to use multiple, but they still save environment. bamboo stars are my favorite personality.
think of the mermaids! (not even the mythical ones. the ones who use it as a career. they will come for you)
This is our home, we keep it clean for everyone to enjoy so tell me again why they are trying to kill us?
People flush floss? I throw mine in the trash. Wish I could recycle it, though.
If I were to win the lottery, I would spend all of it to create a group of people to go out into the oceans and get trash. yes i know, its impossible to get it all, but atleast help.
Self destruction while too many people ware the mask over their eyes.
oh look a nice snow globe! wait... this feels wrong... *because it is wrong*
Well, about half of all plastic waste in the oceans is coming from discarded fishing gear (nets etc.) coming from industrial fishing. Straws, cups, bags and some other 'consumer' plastics are much much less, yet this is what is always depicted as causing the pollution. If you really care about the ocean, stop eating fish.
Very true—and I've got lots of overfishing comics that I've made too. The main goal for this collection is to get people to think that their behavior, no matter how small, can effect the natural world. It's easy to draw a connection between "eating fish makes less fish" but when it comes to throwing something in the trash—people just think it goes "away." I want humans to think about where "away" is.
