Halloween is one of my favorite times of the year, and I have always wanted to try doing one of the month-long October art challenges, so I decided to try doing "Comictober" this year. A different prompt was given each day, and I managed to get a comic made for 21 out of 31 days.

This was an excellent opportunity to try out a variety of comic styles, although my comics tend towards the absurd.

I love to watch Over the Garden Wall during this season. In general, I like to seek out other media properties that also have those nice autumn vibes. I also enjoy putting up a "Halloween Tree." It's basically just a Christmas tree but topped with a skull and a garland of autumn leaves. If I already have a fake plastic tree in storage, why not use it for two holidays?

I certainly feel that I am slowly finding my style, but I like switching it up. Having a consistent style is certainly beneficial for a number of reasons; however, some jokes just work better in certain styles.

About 7 years ago, I decided that my typical screen name "kantieno" was not very memorable. I wanted to make a name that is easier to search. Around that time, I drew a donut and thought "hey, that could be a logo." But did I want to promote junk food? I don't know, who cares, but maybe not. So I made it a vegetable donut because that sounds healthier. "Veggie Donut" seemed like it could work. Short and sweet and that was that.

I have wanted to make comics ever since I first started becoming more familiar with various webcomic artists around 10 years ago. I made several test comics over that period but it took a backseat to other creative interests, including game development and music. In general, I was hesitant to put my stuff out there, but at the start of 2021 I finally decided that I wanted to make a good faith effort and see how it turns out.

There are so many talented comic artists out there now; Extra Fabulous Comics is one of my favorites for sure. I also enjoy Litterbox Comics and Kelsie Brumet, who also participated in Comictober.

Many plans, some more half-baked than others. For now I have started animating some of my comics for sharing on TikTok, Instagram Reels, and other platforms. I hope to start releasing these animations next week. Now that Comictober has ended, I plan to set a more consistent schedule for release, 3 times a week. There are several other projects I am working on but they will all require more time in the oven!

Isn't he some kind of dark Captain Planet? Mankind's polluting of the world made Nature rebel and create a warrior out of plants and ooze to wreak vengeance? Or did I just make that up and it's just a horny monster that kidnaps hot ladies
