‘Pixie And Brutus’ Fans Are Drawing Their Own Comics So The Adventures Don’t Stop (27 Pics)
The Pixie and Brutus comic series is so sincere, it manages to unite cat and dog lovers with every adorable drawing it releases. What began as a random animal friendship has evolved into so much more and now the fans of Pixie and Brutus can't get enough of it. And to satisfy their desire, they even started making their own fanart comics in between the releases of the originals. Some of them are really, really good as well. So good, you probably wouldn't raise any questions if you saw them on the Pixie and Brutus Instagram account.

One of the fans who contributed, Holly Foret, said she found out about Pixie and Brutus through their Instagram fan club. "I love these comics because they're the most wholesome characters ever," Holly told Bored Panda. "And it's different from the other animal comics because Brutus is a retired veteran dog! With scars on the inside and out. Pixie brings back out that tender patient side of him"
And the whole comic does revolve around the two main adorable animals. I mean, it's in the title. Their chemistry is a huge part of what makes it so good. When creating Pixie and Brutus, Ben Hed thought it would be a funny idea to introduce a cute kitten to a big intimidating war dog.“Pixie is a tiny, joyful, energetic kitten,” Ben told Bored Panda. “She’s innocent, and also somewhat oblivious to the serious, dangerous stuff around her.”
On the other hand, Brutus is a large, scar-faced German Shepherd. “He was adopted by Pixie’s owner after retiring as a Military Working Dog (MWD). Brutus, in many ways, is the exact opposite of Pixie. He’s… Seen things. He’s a very serious and intimidating military dog, but he has a soft spot for Pixie, and does what he can to protect her from the harsh realities of the world around them.”
Another contributor, Kassandra from the United States, found Pixie and Brutus on the Instagram explore page. "I thought they were adorable and since then I'm a huge fan! I even subscribe to the creator's Patreon so I get to see extra funny comics!"
"I like the comic so much because [the strips] are simplistic and feel good. They make me smile when I've had a bad day. I also love the dynamic between the characters."
Also, Kassandra believes that a huge reason behind the success of Pixie and Brutus is the lack of common tropes like cats and dogs disliking each other. "It doesn't feature a mean cat or a goofy dog, the characters are unique," she said. "You don't expect Brutus to be so sweet of a brother based on his looks. I think the world that Benjamin created is well done and leaves me wanting to see more of it."
"I would just like to add that all of Benjamin's characters are amazing, not just Pixie and Brutus. Randal the Raccoon is a favorite of mine! And to all the fan artists who contribute to the Pixie and Brutus comics, I've seen a lot of your stuff and you are all amazing artists as well!"
Something like that happened to me once. I was at work and was looking out the window and saw a bird flapping around. I yelled "THAT BIRD'S DYING!" My boss came running and said "That's not one bird, it's two and believe me, they aren't dying." It took me a minute but once it clicked, I was so embarrassed.
Juliette from France, another fan artist, is following Pixie and Brutus from the very beginning. "I really like the humor, the contrast between an old military dog and an innocent kitten," she said. "It works really well! I don't really follow other comics that involve animals so I can't make a lot of comparisons, but Ben Hed really succeeded in creating something unique. I also like the personalities of other characters and how every story is part of the same universe, a sort of Pet Foolery Cinematic Universe, haha."
Another contributor, is Anastasia from Belarus. She also found out about the series via Instagram's explore page. "I really love the comics because Pixie and Brutus are so incredibly cute and it's a completely different spin on pet comics. Nothing I've seen before," she said. "Pixie and Brutus comics have a deeper meaning. For example, they show how friendships can be formed even between two opposite personalities."
What a good boy for not getting jealous like some men are wont to do.
I know this sounds different, but, my best friends cat loves water. She jumps in the bathtub and scratches the faucet. One time, my friend was showering and her cat jumped in...
I have a real version of these two. Only difference being mine are both girls. They did not grow up together, our big girl was a rescue. Sasha-Luna...a14a67.jpg
For all of you concerned these are plagiarized - Benjamin Thomas Hed is the creator of Pixie and Brutus and he invited other artists to create fan comics of his characters for a contest. These are sanctioned by the original author himself. He posts his original Pixie and Brutus comics on Instagram @pet_foolery and has a Patreon where paying subscribers can get additional original content (for $1/month). He has also posted a couple of winning fan comics to his page. Please don't hate on these artists for copycat comics when they were literally invited by the author to draw them.
I think you mean not plagiarised lol but yes exactly. So many jumping to conclusions without knowing the facts or even what fan art is. 🙄
Load More Replies...Cut them some slack. Fanart isn't always done by professional artists, that's why it's called FANart. Sometimes people like something yet not fully understand why/how it works - like Pixie asking for training ... that would have never played out like this in the original. Yet - it's a salute from a fan to the creator of the couple. If you have objections, say something and don't just downvote and whine about how bad things are. Be Brutus. Be able to - but don't. Teach instead of hurt.
As long as they don't teach copyright law because from what I have seen here, few seem to know a damn thing about it. 🤣
Load More Replies...These are all so cute!! I love seeing people’s takes on original content.
they are distasteful most of them and very far in any case from the original spirit and soul of their maker who has his/her mark inevitably all over the originals. if you have the artistic hand to make comics good but thats not enough. put you own soul, stories and characters out there. Not this hybrid of comics where beloved pixie and brutus end up dont make sense and far away from their own characters as their maker meant them to be and are loved by so many fans. its just bad taste and plain wrong.all these together cant fill an original story as it should be.
what are you on about, stop and think, talk to some soldier who has fought in a war, then pass a comment I have seen this far to often it is hell, these are great and everyone should see them and soul search

Love these tributes, hope the author feels the same :) So heartwarming most of them <3
He does. These are entries for a fan comic contest the author initiated.

i have 2 pitts that resemble these two, the diffrence: the girl is a dog and is brown and white
i dont know who made the last one but they need help. and possibly death.
I can't imagine that the creator of Brutus and Pixie is pleased with this. Just saying that others wanted to make some themselves isn't enough to make it okay in my opinion. I am thinking copyright infringement and probably several other violations when I started reading. Some are cute but tainted because they are not from the original creator. I just don't think you can do this legally but I could be wrong. I don't know why they didn't just change the names and what the characters looked like.
The creator of Brutus and Pixie literally instigated this. He started a contest and invited other artists to draw fan comics of his characters.
