That's even more disgusting. Sex is between 2 people so unless he's s bum or absent then yeah I think he has the right to have a say in his child's life.

Not necessarily. An astounding number of women have this same opinion and worse. It's frightening and depressing.

You must be irresponsible young kid. Sex is at least a 2 person party thing, if you can't be responsible and use birth control (condoms, sheep skin, spermicide, birth control pills, the day after pill, or just not have sex) then be prepared for the consequences of parenthood or suffer the damage an abortion does to your mental health. I know because I'm taking care of my nephews and niece because my two sisters aren't responsible enough to be a mom. One of them just straight up disappeared on her 2 kids lives too while the other is struggling to put her life back together because she has a record but hey I'm glad one of them is there for her kid. Don't make someone else pay for your dumbass mistakes.

A lot more married people get abortions than single people, it’s called family planning for a reason. Sometimes you can’t afford five kids mentally or financially or your health or husband’s health is effed and you need to focus on your other kids. Nobody talks about it but it’s usually like that.

What about rape and sexual abuse? What about failed contraception with a long term partner? Your opinion is overly simplistic.

I know it’s horrible and unfair to be a victim of such violence. But you don’t have to carry a baby to term. An early C-section and time in the incubator can save both lives. But here’s my critique. The baby is a victim of the r*pe, too. It never asked to be made in such a horrible way. But our way of handling it is NOT healthy for anyone. It’s either be killed in the womb, or be blamed and stigmatized by those around him/her. Why should the baby be punished? Shouldn’t sex offenders have their junk chopped off, so they don’t repeat the crime? There’s plenty of solutions. We can make a lifetime supply of birth control a human right. You can let the victim spend time in a coma and give them a certain drug that causes amnesia. Federal funded therapists. You can punish the offender before their very eyes. But neither woman nor baby should have to suffer further. If we invent an artificial womb, we ought to consider that the new default solution.

I’d rather see an intelligent argument for or against, rather than simply people getting triggered. The facts are simple: Murder is not the solution to rape. It has been shown that it only deepen the emotional wounds, and what I want is to find a way everyone can live, and trauma can be both reduced and healed. I think most of you are good, ordinary people, but when it comes to rape, a gaping wound is a gaping wound, and it gets worse once you begin to think of an aborted baby as a human being. Preventing as much emotional harm as possible, and helping you find closure is the humane way to deal with things. One wrong is not righted by another. It’s like If I killed off a severely abusive parent, I’ll only feel worse, not better.

Another thing. The way to closure is restorative justice. It means preventing further harm, and making the oppressor restore what he can. Monsters like that should be forced to pay for all your medical care, pay for the child to be put in a loving family, and just pay you extra for the emotional damage, and to fix any chaos he put into your life. If the government understood justice, then he should be forced to do whatever you think makes up for it, and never be released from that sentence until you find enough closure to forgive them. But forgiveness isn’t for him, it’s for you. The public won’t forgive him. They will shun and punish him. Anything you hold onto, or refuse to grieve, unjustly holds you prisoner and ruins your life. And revenge, or lashing out at really anyone (especially the innocent) for it, is only going to make that wound more difficult to heal. Women and children deserve better than this fricked up world, but ideally, our best coping mechanism should be justice.

I know it doesn’t sit well with you. Some of you might want to wring my neck. And some of your reasons might feel completely justified. I’ve never been r*ped, and so it takes thought to try and put myself in your shoes. You don’t deserve to be stuck with a baby you don’t want. But he’s here, now, and he’s alive. And I don’t want you trying to heal a wound, only to discover it was only cut deeper; the wound a twisted and cruel man already inflicted on you, and probably got away with, unfortunately. I often struggled with understanding what to do in response to my whole life being one mountain of assorted trauma. Do I take revenge or not? Do I lash out at people around me or not? Do I hate myself or not? Do I live in the past, future, or present? Do I willfully grieve, or let it destroy me in silence? But this is my best understanding, as of today, and I honestly still struggle with the ramifications of it, because even the best option for moving forward never felt like a winning one.

Even if nobody else grants you justice, healing is the best justice you can do for yourself, because then you can become stronger, and rebuild your life from there. Your abusers may chain you up and torture you, but you have the power to set your heart free, when they’re in the past.

A woman shouldn't have to carry the baby at all, let her get rid of it when it's still a clump of brainless cells. A fetus at the point where abortions are usually done would not be able to survive in an incubator.

Are you an organ donor? If I need your liver to survive I cannot force doctors to take it from you without consent. The same way a fetus can't develop in my body without my consent.

Then be responsible with your body and take any of the birth control products out there. There's a variety of them. Abortion has consequences for everyone like mental health damage or the loss of a life. Being in bed with someone your not all into has its own set of consequences you consented to the night before. And don't make someone else take on your responsibilities when you do decide to have a baby.

Are you going to say that to the thousands of women who are raped or forced into unwanted sexual encounters and then find that they are tragically pregnant? Please stop policing women’s bodies. It is absolutely cruel. Some woman have to make the absolutely difficult choice of getting an abortion after a rape. Please don’t tell women to be “more responsible” when there are so many tragic reasons like this.
